This is only one example of the lexical challenges that this text represents. You will find close equivalents for some of the concepts, such as job titles and language-related terms, but the importance of orthographic reform will have to be explained. --Chasa73a (Diskussion) 15:20, 29.
Rather than simply adding information to explain what might be unfamiliar to an English audience, consider whether certain parts of the text are even relevant to the target audience. Some of the details might not be, so consider paraphrasing and writing in more general terms rather than trying to explain specifics. --Chasa73a (Diskussion) 15:20, 29. Nov. 2021 (CET)
I will consider this further. Richtiges Deutsch and Vademecum are very important today, I think they should be explained. Probably even more than I did in the first draft.--Vyvyan77 (talk) 21:22, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As mentioned above, the signficance of German orthographic reform will also need to be mentioned. The English Wikipedia articles on the Duden and the German orthographic reform of 1996 would probably be useful parallel texts.--Chasa73a (Diskussion) 15:20, 29. Nov. 2021 (CET)
I will research this further. It can be very well integrated into Heuer’s positions on aspects of the reform, so the text will get a more narrative structure.--Vyvyan77 (talk) 21:22, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. Again, think carefully about how much detail is actually helpful to an audience unfamiliar with the finer points of the German language. --Chasa73a (Diskussion) 15:20, 29. Nov. 2021 (CET)
Hello Vyvyan77,
I hope you are well.
First of all, I would like to tell you that I found your article very interesting! I was able to learn more about a person who had quite a big influence on German grammar. Good choice!
I made a few small corrections, hope that's okay for you. I noticed a few things while reading that I would like to address.
First of all, I would recommend you read your article again, it could be that I didn't find all the hidden mistakes.
You could also add some internal (or external) links. For example, in the case of the Luzerner Tagblatt, I think an external link would be appropriate, or in the case of the Druckerei Friedrich Reinhardt. You decide how you want to handle this. Maybe it will help you to think that the more links you add, the more you help someone else with their research. Also, I’ve deleted an external link because they don’t belong in the text.
I'm going to mention a specific sentence that you should look at:
He also taught professional German for typesetters at the Gewerbeschule (more or less equivalent to a trade school) in Bern, was course instructor for language training courses for assistants and supervised as Experte (expert) the final apprenticeship examinations.
I don’t want to overstep, but wouldn’t “technical German” be more appropriate as trade school is a school where people can get their degrees in specific fields? And wouldn’t “expert” be an examiner? This is a definition I found: “An examiner is a person who sets or marks an examination.” Not quite the same, but he still has a say when the people are graded. Also, if you want, you could write all the German words in italics or you use the quotation marks as you did in the last sentence of “Influence”. You would show that these words come from another language.
Before submitting, don't forget to add the categories.
Have a nice evening! --Sradasilva (talk) 19:23, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
