Lithuanian?

[edit]

Vladimir Romanov is ethnically Russian, that is clear. What isn't clear is why he is called "Lithuanian" so often. He is constantly called Lithuanian, but one [BBC] source says he was actually born in Russia. To quote the man himself, "in Russia, we have a saying that a man that's beaten by life is worth two that are unbeaten: which means that someone who has made a mistake is capable of becoming a better man." SOURCE So he's an ethnic Russian, born in Russia, who thinks of himself as Russian. Where does Lithuanian come from then? Chick Young interviewed the Mr Romanov, who spoke to him in Russian, and quoted Pushkin at him. But BBC Scotland's reporters thought the language was Lithuanian. That's the kind of ignorance we've got; is this the cause of the notion, or is he actually Lithuanian in some meaningful way? - Calgacus 17:29, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

He has a citizenship of Lithuania and this is his sole citizenship; he does not have the citizenship of the Russian Federation. As in Lithuania all citizens, regardless of their actual ethnicity, are considered Lithuanians (similarly as e.g. in USA every citizen is American regardless of his origin), sometimes the foreign newspeople makes that mistake and assumes that he is as well ethnic Lithuanian, while he indeed is ethnic Russian. Many people of the nationalities inhabitting the former Soviet Union, including many Russians, has Lithuanian citizenship: this is because when Lithuania declared independence it decided to give Lithuanian citizenship to everyone who lived in Lithuania at the time and wanted its citizenship, regardless of place of origin, ethnicity or languages spoken (the situation is different in Latvia and Estonia, which did not gave citizenships to those that did not spoke Latvian or Estonian languages respectively, thus many Russians who lives there doesn't has citizenship at all or are citizens of Russian Federation).

Few comments: 1. Vladimir Romanov has Russian passport and citizenship as well as Lithuanian 2. He speaks very bad Lithuanian, his regular language is Russian

Roman = Vladimir?

Clean up

[edit]

Article needs general clean up. Currently major parts of text are base on rumors or uncited media reports. I also suggest to merge all those seasons under one title, leaving only main points from them with proper refs. As currently Mr.Romanov's article reminds season list. It also should be done with WP:LIVING guidance. M.K. (talk) 11:08, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Even though I'm a Hibby, Romanov gives so much material there is the potential for a great article here. I'll see what I can do (without being too biased). Jmorrison230582 (talk) 15:55, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for the article improvement. Seeing such detail information, perhaps it would be good idea to split this article to Vladimir Romanov takeover of Hearts and move there all the details of "Ownership of Hearts" and only main info and summary leaving in current article ? M.K. (talk) 14:50, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a good idea. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 09:02, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is article's name Vladimir Romanov's takeover of Hearts is grammatically correct? Or maybe you have some other title in mind? M.K. (talk) 11:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ownership would be preferable to takeover. I'm also unsure about using Hearts rather than Heart of Midlothian F.C.. Using Hearts would probably be too informal and doesn't follow the naming convention in their other articles. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 18:48, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How about Vladimir Romanov's Ownership of Heart F.C. this one? M.K. (talk) 13:28, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Vladimir Romanov's ownership of Heart of Midlothian F.C. it is. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 13:32, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moved most of the text to the new one. Fell free to improve them both. All the best, M.K. (talk)

Kniazevičiūtė

[edit]

Did I miss something? What is this "Kniazevičiūtė"?

And do we care? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.148.236.254 (talk) 12:06, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
