Vivegam has done very good business. It crossed 160 crores and it may cross 200 crores. It's budget is 100 crores but it already crossed the 150 crore. Earning around 50 crores and is still going strong. Even if the review of some of critics are not that good. But still Ajit's fan and also normal people loved the movie. This movie's special effect is of international standard. It has got holly wood like action sequence and is very good thriller. Jgnadar1978 (talk) 11:03, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

BT Online | New Delhi, Wednesday, September 13, 2017 | 12:10 IST Ajith Kumar starrer, Vivegam, seems unstoppable at the box office. Up till Sunday, Vivegam collected Rs 160 crore worldwide. After breaking the records of Baahubali and Kabali, Vivegam is expected to enter the Rs 200 crore club in coming days. What taking so long for that moron to update the correct collections of Vivegam???? Gskrocks (talk) 15:37, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just in case replying to your rude and insulting question in a calm manner might have a ghost of chance of increasing understanding, @Gskrocks:, the fundamental answer to your question is that the box office grosses of Vivegam, and of Indian cinema in general are unimportant and unverifiable. As our guidance on Indian cinema states: ...all Indian film financial details are based on trade estimates and should not be taken as gospel. We realize that enthusiasm for Indian films is vital to the encyclopedia but when that enthusiasm manifests as competition between fans over which film has earned more it does not help. Calling other editors "morons" is even less likely to help and often leads to being blocked. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:09, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ramesh Bala BO tracker is not credible

[edit]

It is known fact that So called Box office Tracker Ramesh bala Often Provides Inflated and Wrong Box Office Figures. you can find Many instances where he made Tweets With BO Numbers contradicting his own old Tweets Example - For the movie Lingaa He Tweeted 1st Day Gross is 17 Cr "NEW RECORD " then when The Ajith 's Movie Vedalam came he tweeted that VEDALAM 1st day gross is 15cr and said its the Best Of all time!! [1] there are many examples like this. [2]

and there are articles of about his inflated Fake Numbers by International Business Times

http://www.ibtimes.co.in/yennai-arindhaal-100-crore-box-office-collection-report-fake-625283 <-- Article on his Fake Figures on 2015 Ajith 's Movie Yennai Arindhal http://www.ibtimes.co.in/vivegam-total-worldwide-box-office-collection-has-ajiths-film-crossed-rs-100-crore-mark-figures-740165 <--- Article on his Inflated Figures on Ajith 's Movie Vivegam http://www.thehindu.com/features/cinema/the-murky-world-of-box-office-figures/article7903783.ece <-- Article about inflated Numbers by Credible Tracker Sreedhar Pillai .

So You can easily conclude that Ramesh bala linked Media Sources are just not credible and also he is Biased to Ajith's Movies To give more proof why he is Biased here check out these SS of his tweets https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C0Ss2zlUAAETcjt.jpg

So don't consider this guy's SOURCES/Numbers , we should wait for other transparent Sources or just Remove that Column.Instead of providing wrong Information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OthaDAW (talkcontribs) 08:15, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

http://andhraboxoffice.com/info.aspx?id=4137&cid=6&fid=5717 Change the Gross to 112 cr because its close to the fact , the movie Flopped and andhraboxoffice is widely considered credible and active for 7+ years. the above section explains why the rameshbala numbers are inflated and fake.

http://www.ibtimes.co.in/vivegam-total-worldwide-box-office-collection-has-ajiths-film-crossed-rs-100-crore-mark-figures-740165 many Media also uses Andhraboxoffice as their Source. its just that People Like rameshbala misusing and posting some random figures as fast as possible , so these National Media sites just use them to report the Figures Blindly . unlike where Andhraboxoffice gives in - depth report of all south movies. they BoxofficeMojo of South India. so change the figures as soon as possible guys .

vivegam box office collection is 160 crore the sources given below http://www.businesstoday.in/lifestyle/off-track/vivegam-box-office-collection-ajiths-movie-collects-rs-160-crore-eyes-rs-200-crore-worldwide/story/260179.html http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/vivegam-box-office-collection-ajith-kumar-kajal-aggarwal/1/1044692.html</ref>

@Vinoj jayanth we cannot change it.see this reliable source and also the newly dated article it has clearly mentioned life time final collection as 112 crore. http://www.ibtimes.co.in/vivegam-box-office-collection-ajith-starrer-grosses-rs-112-crore-its-lifetime-747310 whereas the above sources you are provided are old dated articles just speculated collections and does not mention the word "lifetime" which means final collections what a movie earns at the end of the day. hope you have understood. thank youBothiman (talk) 10:08, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think IBT may have to be disregarded in this particular instance. While it is considered to be a reliable source, this particular article attributes its claim to Andhra Box Office, a blog that is considered to be unreliable at WP:ICTF FAQ. Just my two cents. King Prithviraj II (talk) 14:39, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@King Prithviraj II NOT only IBT even yahoo in late 2017 have declared vivegam as one of the biggest flops of 2017 along with singam 3 and spyder see this https://in.style.yahoo.com/singham-3-spyder-vivegam-biggest-095252597.html . Bothiman (talk) 10:07, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The source you provided mentions it as 122 crore, which is none of the above figures. (FYI its not Yahoo, its Bollywood Life filtered through Yahoo, which is not considered reliable for box-office figures.) Most media outlets report it as 160, see India Today, Business Today and Rediff, among others. Most of them are quoting trade analysts Ramesh Bala or Sumit Kadel, who are generally considered reliable. Lastly since all these figures are nothing but estimates, then enter both figures as a range if reliable sources other than those quoting primary figures or unreliable sources mention this. No reason to discount the above mentioned ones. King Prithviraj II (talk) 10:54, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@King Prithviraj II if we add that 160 crore from that old dated article even so if it is reliable source. the claims of mine were from a newly dated article as of november end even though it is from andhra box office and bollywood life shared by reliable sources ib times and yahoo. the funny part even yahoo said this film collected 160 crore in some old dated article and they switched on to 122 crore after they came to know the film under performed. the date also matters its better we just stick on to newly dated IBTimes life collection eventhough they share it from andhra box office. since its tamil and also a telugu dubbed film andhra box office is one of the good trackers of south movies nowadays. thank you Bothiman (talk) 11:46, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It seems you didn't read WP:ICTF FAQ yet, reliable sources are frequently pressured to quote newly created websites, this does not make them reliable per WP:Fruit of the poisonous tree. If you want Andhra Box Office to be treated as reliable, you need to gain consensus for it. It isn't Yahoo, its a Bollywood Life article which is viewed through Yahoo snipet view. Bollywood Life too is unreliable, making different claims at different times and places. King Prithviraj II (talk) 12:04, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@King Prithviraj II I actually read that but as per wiki rules I know andhra boxoffice not a reliable source. But they are the leading trackers of south movies nowadays as mentioned by IB times a reliable source in that article. Bothiman (talk) 12:38, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you need to use Andhra Box Office in any article, you must gain a consensus at WP:ICTF for inclusion of that source as reliable. King Prithviraj II (talk) 12:51, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I would not use Andhra. There's no indication of who's running it or what their expertise is. The fact that another Indian paper quotes them is just an indication of the paper's desperation for something to print. Some of these newspapers have cited Koimoi and even Onlookersmedia.in, which is yet a blog run by movie fans. If I were to give advice to anybody interested in Indian film finances, I would say "Trust no one." Every number out there should be considered with the greatest possible scrutiny, not blindly republished as if we have no standards. "Ooh, this number is one crore higher! It must be more accurate! Quick, we've got to cram this into Wikipedia ASAP!" Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:17, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vivegam 50 crore loss is blatant lie. It will be 10 to 15 crore loss

[edit]

50 crore loss is a blatant lie. Yes this filim did not perform well . There is no possiblity of 50 crore loss. As the producer would have made money by selling theatrical rights, over seas right , kannada rights , hindi rights , telugu rights . Additionaly the filim did deacent box office collection in many centers in tamil nadu and over seas. And the article sitation for 50 crore loss does not have any valid proof. Gross range

[edit]

@Vertercas: In this edit, you took a published gross 167 crore figure for Vivegam, then you subtracted 50 crore based on this source, creating some sort of bizarre figure that looks more like a net figure. You then doubled down on this new number by citing Catch news, but it's unclear why this new 112 crore figure you assert is more correct than the 167 cited by Financial Express. Because it more closely adheres to your personal opinion? I've presented the content in the form of a range. Even with a 112 or 117 crore gross figure, if the budget was 130 crore, that's only a 13-18 crore difference, so they must be calculating their loss by some other means, which might include factoring in distributor debts, entertainment taxes, etc. In western films, for instance, a film is typically only considered profitable if it makes 2x their budget, because there's all sorts of expenses that nobody knows about. So this film could have grossed 167 crore on a budget of 130 crore (which technically looks like a profit) and still have lost 50 crore because of other expenses not transparent to us. Bottom line: neither you nor I know for sure what the actual gross figure is, and unless there's some glaring reason to ignore the Financial Express figure (which I've seen before with Kabali) then we should include it, since Wikipedia is not the sole arbiter of fact.

Note also that per WP:BRD, when you are reverted, the onus is on you to open a discussion to seek consensus, not to discuss via edit warring. This discussion I've opened here is one you should have opened after you were reverted. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:39, 8 February 2019 (UTC) I appreciate your work as we don't know what the actual gross is it's all based on sources.my RegardsVertercas (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:18, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Loss figures are inaccurate

[edit]

If you dont know the exact loss figures. Then just mention it incurred loss for the prodcurer rather than putting it as 50 crore loss. Also the website you have provided for citation is refering to some unknow x who is not even related to the filim . Sriharivignesh (talk) 06:45, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Removing blog(catchnews) sourced financial informations.

Catchnews and andhraboxoffice websites are running by group of paid mafia in the name of trackers and not to be considered as the cite. Lumbercane (talk) 04:11, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Cannolis (talk) 07:48, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
