New countries.

Egypt seems to have dropped its visa requirements too! Source: http://www.tuniscope.com/index.php/article/13691/actualites/international/egyepte-345310 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.178.85.140 (talk) 14:29, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pls add barbados to the map . JSOW84 (talk) 02:19, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

what about the map?

[edit]

The map is wrong, there needs to be a distinction between Morocco and Western Sahara, as they are separate countries. How can this be corrected? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:CB04:349:6000:E40B:FB03:58E1:8EC9 (talk) 09:02, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Western Sahara is not unanimously recognized as a separate country.--Twofortnights (talk) 17:30, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

it's not updated. Belarus, Bolivia, Congo, South Sudan, Lebanon and Central african republic is not on it also Bangaladesh is on the map and it not valid no more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.176.141.108 (talk) 16:46, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The map is standard. It's the same one used in all similar pages. What is your point about the above countries though? Do they grant Moroccans entry without visas? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.216.228.85 (talk) 18:39, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

yes! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.180.142.200 (talk) 23:20, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New counties

[edit]

Georgia doesn't work with eVisa anymore. A friend of mine tried it. He had to get a visa in Turkey first. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meli Luginsland (talkcontribs) 05:29, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

When it comes to Moroccan citizens eVisa applies only "for valid visa holders or residents of EU/EFTA, GCC, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and the United States.". But I will edit the article to make it clearer.--Twofortnights (talk) 17:30, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Add Benin to visa free travel for 90 days for Moroccans. Copy and past this. https://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_website_client.cgi?SpecData=1&VISA=&page=visa&NA=MA&AR=00&PASSTYPES=PASS&DE=BJ&selDest=Benin%28Rep.%29&selTrans=Use+ctrl-key+to+select+or+deselect+transit+point%28s%29+above&user=OLYMPIC&subuser=OLYMPICB2C

Also Burkina faso: https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2017/05/218104/morocco-burkina-faso-abolish-visas-nationals-visa-africa/

Hi. When the text says "Visas for nationals of Morocco and Burkina Faso will soon no longer be required for citizens travelling between the two countries." that refers to a future event.--Twofortnights (talk) 07:54, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,Twofortnight

What you say about the state of belize??

Copy and past this https://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_website_client.cgi?SpecData=1&VISA=&page=visa&NA=MA&AR=00&PASSTYPES=PASS&DE=BZ&selDest=Belize&selTrans=Use+ctrl-key+to+select+or+deselect+transit+point%28s%29+above&user=OLYMPIC&subuser=OLYMPICB2C

That is rather interesting. On this page there is no mention of Morocco - https://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_website_client.cgi?FullText=1&COUNTRY=BZ&SECTION=VI&SUBSECTION=00&user=GF&subuser=GFB2C and here it is listed as a visa requiring country http://www.mfa.gov.bz/index.php/what-we-do/consular-matters/belize-visa-information In addition Belizeans require a visa for Morocco so there is no bilateral agreement in place either.--Twofortnights (talk) 07:10, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Add barbados!

Edit warring

[edit]

An editor with an Algerian IP address has changed the section title and removed the map, leading to disruptive editing. I request other contributors to keep an eye on this page and consider a temporary page protection to prevent Edit warring . Snowheats (talk) 18:41, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable map

[edit]

There are multiple issues with the visa requirements map currently in place. First they include both de jure and de facto lines of the borders of Moroccan territory, contrary to the previous version which simply included all of Western Sahara territory into Morocco. Secondly, the map suggests that Algeria is "Countries Closed to Moroccan Citizens". It heavily implies that the admission of Moroccan passports is now refused in Algeria, which is totally false. The Algerian authorities only brought back the requirement for Moroccans to apply for visa before entering their territory, just like every other nation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brokenflag (talkcontribs) 23:19, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing up these concerns @Brokenflag:. I don’t have a particular stance on the issue, but I believe there is likely a Wikipedia policy that covers how borders and territorial disputes in Morocco/Western Sahara should be represented on maps. If there's no clear policy, it might be worth starting a Request for Comment (RfC) to gather wider community input and reach a consensus on how to handle this.--Twofortnights (talk) 09:16, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

@Twofortnights: I already explained what's wrong with the POV map (Western Sahara is not Morocco). Someone also noted above that Algeria is not closed to Moroccan citizens, so why did you you reinstate a map that violates multiple policies, including WP:IUP and WP:NPOV? M.Bitton (talk) 01:23, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @M.Bitton: and thank you for bringing this up. I completely agree that we need to address these concerns carefully. However, I believe that removing the map altogether due to a content dispute might not be the best approach. There is most probably a policy in place regarding Western Sahara that we can follow, and applying that policy would be the right solution. As for Algeria, I fully agree with your point. The challenge seems to be that someone keeps uploading new map files on Commons with each update, which makes it difficult to track changes. We definitely need to update the map to reflect "visa required" for Algeria. Hope we can sort it out quickly.--Twofortnights (talk) 09:14, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Twofortnights: I already cited the policies that apply here. We also have other examples to follow with regard to occupied territories (Israel and Russia). The choice now is to either update the current map (the one that you added today) accordingly or upload a new one. M.Bitton (talk) 09:41, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton: Thanks for your response and for highlighting the relevant policies. While I understand the concerns regarding WP:IUP and WP:NPOV, these are general policies that are open to interpretation based on context. Whether they've been violated here is debatable and worth discussing further. The visa policy of Morocco article, as currently presented, reflects the same border situation, and the article on Morocco itself shades Western Sahara differently to indicate the dispute. Whatever changes we make should ideally be based on consensus reached through discussion, either on the article's talk page or, if necessary, through a broader RfC.--Twofortnights (talk) 10:45, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Twofortnights: the occupation is not debatable and I see no reason to treat this article differently from the case of Russia and Israel. M.Bitton (talk) 10:48, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton: I completely agree that we should strive for consistency in how disputed regions are represented. That said, I would prefer not to engage in discussions about the political status of these territories, as my main goal here is to avoid edit warring and help reach a consensus that ensures consistency across similar visa policy articles. For instance, the "Visa policy of Russia" shows Crimea in a different shade, while the "Visa policy of Ukraine" shades Crimea and Eastern Ukraine differently. The "Visa policy of Israel" displays Israel in one solid color, without distinctions for the West Bank and Gaza, while "Visa requirements for Israeli citizens" does indicate the West Bank. For Ukrainian citizens, there’s a border between Ukraine and Crimea, but the color is the same. In the case of Russian citizens, Crimea is shown in a different shade. The "Visa policy of Palestine" doesn’t feature a map at all, while "Visa requirements for Palestinian citizens" shows the West Bank. As for Western Sahara, there aren’t any articles on Sahrawi visa policies or requirements. Given these examples, I believe we can find a solution that maintains consistency with how other disputed regions are handled in visa policy articles. We should focus on ensuring that the map reflects the same neutral approach used in these other cases without analyzing the underlying political disputes.--Twofortnights (talk) 10:59, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Twofortnights: I have gone ahead and edited the map as per how Crimea is displayed. I will also add a new legend for completeness. M.Bitton (talk) 11:03, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton: Thank you, I hope this is satisfactory to all sides.--Twofortnights (talk) 11:18, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Twofortnights: it should be, but if it isn't, then those who disagree with it will have to come up with a policy-based argument. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 11:44, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton : I don't think wikipedia policy will solve anything in this matter, especially looking at it from a travel-perspective. Firstly, the vast majority of citizens residing in the territory currently held by Morocco hold Moroccan passports, and Moroccans living in the "north" can move to the territory because there no hard borders nor checks. Secondly, many Western saharans living outside of this territory are either stateless or hold a Western Saharan passport which is inadmissible in most of the countries around the world, hence why "Visa requirements for Western Saharans" page does not exist. As per the buffer zone, no one can either enter it or exit it, and is currently administered by the MINORSO mission of the U.N, so it has no clear visa policy. Looking at this issue from a purely political point of view is unrealistic and unfair to both sides. Brokenflag (talk) 14:01, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Twofortnights : The changes made still do not make any sense though and very confusing. You included the de jure borders of Morocco (the line in the middle) and elongated its territory to still include the de facto borders (territory currently held by Morocco). Both cannot co-exist. Thank you for making the correct change of Algeria's visa policy though. Brokenflag (talk) 13:51, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I didn't make any edits myself.--Twofortnights (talk) 11:35, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
