Gift cars

[edit]

Looks like the .ve internet is hidden again, can anyone with access check if this says all the athletes (or just the medalists) are gifted cars, thanks. Kingsif (talk) 23:56, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kind regards @Kingsif:; I have opened the article and I don't have any problems. If the problem persists, you can try entering the Web Archive link (Aseguran que el Gobierno obsequió carros a atletas olímpicos). At any rate, I'll include its content:

I'll look forward to help with the expansion of the article in the following days. See you! --NoonIcarus (talk) 13:07, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I don't know if it's GDPR or if occasionally Venezuelan websites decide to hide from the world. It doesn't reveal much new, but it sources the diplomas and some other basic stuff. Glad to see the fascination with the value of the medals continues. Kingsif (talk) 14:00, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CANTV usually blocks non-state outlets intermittently, but it should affect access from abroad. In any case, if it happens again, reading through Web Archive should be a good alternative. --NoonIcarus (talk) 22:36, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: It might have hit the expansion deadline yesterday, I'm not sure if DYK uses UTC. Feel free to just review the hooks you find most interesting. Various relevant images throughout the article. Note that ALT13 world record fact has appeared in ITN (not the article, but the record as news). Note that there is an approved DYK hook already mentioning Rojas' relationship with her sister, which might be too related to ALT14 (and alternative could only mention Limardo).

5x expanded by Kingsif (talk). Self-nominated at 23:19, 16 August 2021 (UTC).[reply]

  • Article's got a pretty big scope, didn't want to bury the lead/assume what I find most interesting would appeal to everyone, so thought I'd let a reviewer have an opinion, too. I assumed the reviewer would pick the hooks they find most interesting and check those only, maybe I'll add that to the nom comment next time. Kingsif (talk) 11:23, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: It looks like 5x expansion began a little over a week before nomination, but it's close enough. qpq is done, no copyvio either (looks like mostly quotes and false positives on Earwig). The article is long enough and sourced. I'm not going through all 22 hooks (although I'm sure there's other good ones). I verified the following hooks as cited and interesting: ALT0, ALT2, ALT4, ALT5, ALT6 and ALT7. @Kingsif: Amazing work on this page and this nom! I can't wait to see which hook hits the front page.
