If vCalendar is RFC 2739, and iCalendar is RFC 2445, how is iCalendar newer? --Delirium 21:30, Aug 21, 2003 (UTC)

vCalendar standard was released as a whitepaper way back in 1997 whereas the version 2.0 of vCalendar -- which was rebranded as iCalendar -- was RFC'd in 1998. I guess they didn't want to RFC the version 1.0 initially, but later regretted their decision (since vCalendar is more widely supported than iCalendar) and made vCalendar 1.0 into an RFC. Btw, the code shown in this article isn't exactly vCalendar, but iCalendar. Look closely and you'll see that it is has got the version property set to 2.0 (= iCalendar) not 1.0 which is by definition vCalendar. However, I don't want to change that article just yet. :) --manywhere 09:58, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
