The estate
[edit]To add to this article about the Park, a lot more information is available about about Untermyer Gardens and the whole of what was for many years a 150-acre estate, know as "Greystone". Greystone was one of the greatest gardens in the USA during the early 20th century. It was a 150-acre riverfront estate which had 60 gardeners and 60 greenhouse to supply its vast and elaborate system of gardens. On one single day in 1939, 30,000 visitors visited and viewed the gardens. Currently the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy is helping restore what is left of the gardens.
