[edit]I have found no notable alumni for this college, which explains why it doesn't have a section for one. I also found no information about funding. Moray An Par (talk) 15:03, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Reviewer: Racepacket (talk) 18:47, 18 May 2011 (UTC) Thank you for nominating this article. I enjoyed it and am struck by its similarities with American schools. No disamb. links. Please fix fn 13, 47 and 49 which have broken links.
Disamb. links and external links check out.
- It is reasonably well written.
- a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
- "in concurrence with its reorganization in 1998.[16]" - Arbor Day does not belong in the lead paragraph, and this fragment should be reworded ("at the time of its reorganization" perhaps?).
- "Only 4 and 5 of the faculty and students, respectively, returned upon the resume of classes."->"Only four faculty and five students returned upon the resumption of classes."
- "The location of the gardens used to be the place where the tents, which were used as classrooms during the first four months of the university, were set up.[8]"->"The gardens occupy the site where the tents were used as classrooms during the first four months of the university.[8]"
- "Jurisdiction of the MFR, created in 1910, was originally under the Bureau of Forestry. Administration of the MFR was transferred to UP in 1960."->"The MFR was created in 1910 under the Bureau of Forestry. Jurisdiction over MFR was transferred to UP in 1960." - please be consistent with "administration" or "jurisdiction". Do you mean UP or UPLB?
- "to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines."->"to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP)."
- ",[4] and its Institute of Agroforestry"->",[4] and CFNR's Institute of Agroforestry" - pronoun needs correct antecedent.
- "A similar trend in the increase of female enrolees in other forestry schools in the Philippines has been observed.[9]"->"Other forestry schools in the Philippines have also experienced a similar increase in female enrollment.[9]"
- "The specimens" is unclear: "More than half of the specimens belong to the entomological collection." Do you mean "More than half of the museum's specimens are its entomological collection."?
- "While most of its collections are in"->"While most of the museum's collections are in" - pronoun antecedent.
- "devoted in the study of mountains."->"devoted in the study of mountain ecology." - more accurate?
- Yes, I did mean UP not UPLB. UPLB didn't exist yet during that time. It was only established in 1972.
- a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
- Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
- A. References to sources:
- "making it the oldest forestry school in the Philippines.[9]" - can you make a statement about where it ranks in terms of the world? Very few forestry schools existed in the 19th century.
- Does the "Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability" belong in the research section?
- B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
- C. No original research:
- A. References to sources:
- It is broad in its coverage.
- a (major aspects): b (focused):
- Explain who is trained by the Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability.
- Explain how students are selected for admission.
- Do the Philipines have a formal accreditation organization? If so, what body accredits the CFNR?
- American Universities on which UP is modeled have "extension" activities to spread technical knowledge to practitioners. Does UP and CFNR have an extension component?
- What is its annual budget? What are its sources of funds (e.g., state appropriations vs tuition)?
- a (major aspects): b (focused):
- It follows the neutral point of view policy.

- I have addressed concerns for prose for now. I'll do more research regarding critera 2a and 3a. Do you think a summary of results of past forestry licensure exams took by its graduates merit inclusion? Moray An Par (talk) 02:57, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Dead links fix done. Moray An Par (talk) 03:54, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- I have included the budget for the Forest Products Laboratory and the Makiling Forest Reserve. Unfortunately, I could not find budget/endowment on CFNR as a whole. I already searched the Department of Budget and Management, Securities Exchange Commission, Commission on Audit (where I got UPLB's endowment info) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue, among other sites.
- I have added the number of researchers for CFNR. It's a bit old though (2002).
- I have moved Training Center to a new section. I have a source stating the number of its participant for a certain program in 1999, although I do not see why it deserves mention since it doesn't indicate if the program was notable or if anyone notable attended it.
- I also added a fair use picture of its admin building.
- I also added a sortable table of past forestry licensure exam results. I hope I am not boostering on this one. Moray An Par (talk) 14:47, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit]- I think it is either "and CFNR's Institute of Agroforestry" or "and the CFNR Institute of Agroforestry" - the possessive or use the definite article.
- The exam pass rate table is not boosterism. It is sourced objective data, without you adding prose superlatives.
- Thank you for adding the admin building picture. I suggest expanding the fair use rationale. "The administration building is an important and recognizable symbol of the college and is included in the article to help readers associate the building with the college."
- Please explain what type of people attend the Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability? Do existing employees of the Bureau of Forestry attend? Or is it attended by people seeking to enter the profession?
- I am still unclear about accreditation. Does Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities have jurisdiction? How did CFNR rate?
Thank you for all of your hard work. Racepacket (talk) 21:05, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Points 1, 3 and 4 have been addressed. AFAIK, CHED designation and PRC results are as far as accreditation goes. PAASCU only regulates private institutions. I am not 100% sure on this but I don't think public colleges & universities are accredited by any body. I'll ask the Philippines noticeboard regarding this. “ | The University of the Philippines is the premier state university of the Republic of the Philippines established by law in 1908. It has its own charter and is not under any regulatory body. It is governed by a Board of Regents, the chair of which is the Chair of the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines. Among its members are the Chairs of the Committee on Education of the Philippine Senate and the House of Representatives. The other members are appointed by the President of the Republic of the Philippines. This particular nature of the University of the Philippines has put it in a position where it does not need accreditation by any local body. |

Thank you for the information on accreditation. I found the paper in fn 63 about the shift in forestry education to be particularly interesting, and you might want to use that paper to guide future work on the article. However, the article now meets the GA criteria. Congratulations on another Good Article. Racepacket (talk) 09:07, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! Looking forward to working with you again, and wishing you the best of luck. Moray An Par (talk) 09:16, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
