Title
[edit]The article is about the University's library system so why not name the page that? ALTON .ıl 23:41, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
first book
[edit]The library's first acquisition was Survey of Wyoming and Idaho by Dr. Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden[2] -- the citation is to the book its self -- the book says that it was the first book purchased??? Also, when did it become the UCLA library and not the normal school library? They really moved the collection when the moved the campus? What did LA city college keep as thier library when they got that old normal school campus? What is the source of all this info? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.107.130.198 (talk) 04:00, August 28, 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Uclapowellsnow1932.JPG
[edit]The image Image:Uclapowellsnow1932.JPG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. COI Disclaimer
[edit]I just added a link to publicly available digitized materials (lots of photographs, but other documents as well) from the UCLA Library's Digital Collections (mostly Special Collections materials) . It's a rich resource that I think others will find meaningful and useful, but I'm mentioning it here because I'm a librarian at UCLA. I had nothing to do with the creation of the project, but I still want to make sure that it's generally agreed by page editors that this doesn't represent a conflict of interest. I made a minor edit to the page to update the number of volumes held by the UCLA Library. I am a librarian at UCLA, but I believe this is a factual correction and not a conflict of interest. Here is a citation that notes the nine million statistic: http://books.google.com/books?id=EJRFAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA29&lpg=PA29&dq=how+many+volumes+are+held+in+ucla+library&source=bl&ots=DhUJgOvCMj&sig=7Zj4lJQbW0ZWwjag_cBMixm6_hk&hl=en&sa=X&ei=i0IRVOufN-OjigKEwYC4Bg&ved=0CFEQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=how%20many%20volumes%20are%20held%20in%20ucla%20library&f=false. --Emcaulay (talk) 06:40, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

University of California, Los Angeles Library → UCLA Library – This is what they call themselves on their website. With the comma, it's an awkward name anyway. HandsomeFella (talk) 19:18, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support or move to UCLA library system: The current comma usage is awkward. Also, this is about more than one library, so "library system" may be better. —BarrelProof (talk) 13:11, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: I checked their website, and the word "system" isn't mentioned, at least not on the home page. Also, that seems to me to suggest an (IT-based) library system rather than the library itself. HandsomeFella (talk) 14:04, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom. bd2412 T 21:48, 28 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support proposed name works better in terms of conciseness, but probably also conforms better with WP:COMMONNAME as UCLA as abbreviation is more known than University of California, Los Angeles. Femke Nijsse (talk) 07:41, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support... unless there's a University of California inside the Los Angeles Library Red Slash 05:50, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

12 million or 8 million?
[edit]The first paragraph says it is "a collection of over twelve million books and 100,000 serials." The section "1977 - present" says, "The library collection consists of more than 8 million volumes and more than 78,000 current serial titles." Although "over 12 million" is also "more than 8 million" it does create some uncertainty. Doesn't it make sense to make both sections more consistent so that they both provide the same (accurate and current) estimates, whatever they might be? AdderUser (talk) 09:51, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
