1984/88/92 Olympic Champions are World Champions for that year?
[edit]For those three years, it was not (at least according to our articles on the UCI Road championships for those years) that there was no women's world championship, but that the Olympic race established the world champion. So should Carpenter, Knol and Watt, and those on the Olympic podia alongside them, be listed here? I can't find any historical list of UCI champions outside of Wikipedia to see whether they list Olympic champions as WC for those years. I don't see any photos of Carpenter/Knol/Watt in rainbow jerseys though... Kevin McE (talk) 12:37, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
USSR/Russia/Latvia medals
[edit]Is it ok to count Emīlija Sonka (gold 1964) and Baiba Caune (lvwiki) (silver 1968 & 1974) as medals for Russia? The were both born and trained in Soviet Latvia, then were selected for USSR team. Papuass (talk) 07:15, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
- If the UCI regard Russia as the successors of the Soviet Union, then yes. If not, then it is speculation by editors and USSR and Russian historical totals should be separate. If your enquiry is based on having them registered here as Latvian medals, then I would !vote no. Kevin McE (talk) 18:59, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I would lean towards separating USSR and Russian medals, I do not know the UCI stance. But then there would remain East and West German medals. Papuass (talk) 11:59, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
