Thanks Ken for your prompt edit. I guess we need to include links to this page 'Mangalorean regionalism' in all articles related to places of South Canara and Udupi district. I have already put links to this article in Dakshina kannada and Udupi District pages.

Vandalism

[edit]

Mr. Princeofdark07, I hope you know that on Wikipedia we rely only on published reliable sources. While accidentally logging in today, I came to know of this nonsense. I have built this article only on published sources.

Language Percentage of speakers
Tulu 47.27
Kannada 20.62
Konkani 16.51
Malayalam 10.79
Marathi 2.35
Urdu 1.75
Source: 1961 Census of India statistics[1]

Census of India, District Census Handbook, South Kanara District, p. 192 is the 1961 Census. Regarding the source, please download South Kanara District Gazetteer, Page 95, You should have Adobe Reader for the PDF. Please give us a source regarding the 1991 census. The IP which you undid 122.169.2.6 was me. I am much more experienced Wikipedian than you. KensplanetTC 08:33, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been seriously vandalized by some IP. I request Kensplanet to lock this article for unregistered users. Also princeofdark has been contributing to this article for a while now. He should come up with some reliable source for his claims about this ethnic composition. The present ethnic composition in the article also seems incorrect. I don't think kannadigas constitute 20% of the population here. I am also searching for a source regarding this. Will post one when i find it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.50.116.116 (talk) 14:45, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopaedia of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh

[edit]

It has been discovered that this book:

  • Gupta, Om. Encyclopaedia of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Gyan Publishing House, 2006. ISBN 8182053897, 9788182053892.

Contains significant amounts of material plagiarized from Wikipedia articles. (Some other books from the same publisher also have this problem). There is no practical way of determining which material came from Wikipedia, and which came from other sources. Further, widespread plagiarism is an indication of poor scholarship. For those reasons, and according to Wikipedia policy, WP:CIRCULAR, I will deleting all citations to the book. However I will not delete the material that cites it, as there's no indication that the material is inaccurate. For more background, see WP:RSN#Circular references: Gyan Publishing and ISHA Books, or the archive after it goes there.   Will Beback  talk  22:27, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
