These images are unsuitable, as there is already a good image showing what the facial characteristics (such as coloring) of the breed are. VanTucky 20:17, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, colors, side jowls and every other physical feature of the breed is already well-shown with several close-ups, profiles and forward views already in place. Unless you have a unique and encyclopedic image to add to the article (or at least a coherent discussion argument referring to image use policy), please desist. The images that have been recently added to the Treeing Walker Coonhound section are images that are unique and show the different colors and activites of a coonhound, hence the Subject they are listed inder: "Activities and color variations". It is very annoying to find that your edits are removing images that are well within the guidelines and rules of the Wikipedia image upload practices. If you do not have any other reason to remove these images other than your opinion that they are not what you want to see on this page, please understand that as a Treeing Walker Coonhound owner of over 15 yrs., my intention is to educate the public with the images that I have that show the breed in action and with it's distinguishing markings, and stop editing the images that give the public more information about this little known breed of animal. I have been requested to offer and submit information to the AKC society, as well a WebVetMD, about Treeing Walker Coonhounds, and my authority to do so has never been challenged by those with meaningful authority.
I added the above comments by User:Kfrooke from my talk page as they concern this article. These images of a facial closeup of a tricolor coonhound are totally repetitive. There are already three images (a closeup, a side view and a front view) of a tricolor TRC. Thus, your images do not show a variation in color or activity not already shown in the article. Your self-stated and unverifiable "expertise" has no bearing on the merit of your contributions. VanTucky 21:30, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you. These pictures are valuable to show the variation within the breed. White Arabian mare (talk) 18:38, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

relation to American foxhounds?

[edit]

Aren't Walkers more closely related to American foxhounds than English foxhounds? Certainly they are closer to the Americans in conformation, though both must come from the English. Also, there are one or two lesser-known French hounds that Walkers resemble even more closely than they do American foxhounds, so I've always wondered about the origin of the "Tennessee Lead". The article could also benefit from a section on why the AKC doesn't recognize the breed; Walkers are much better pets than foxhounds, and as hunting declines, it would be nice if they were more widely recognized. Treeing Walker Coonhound, first birthday

has been deleted because it's a cute picture of someone's pet, but doesn't really show much about the dog 24.6.141.111 (talk) 09:01, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The breed is known for its love of lounging

Deleted again, because it's a cute pet dog picture, but not really good for a wiki entry, there are other better forums for showing your pet dog. 24.6.141.111 (talk) 09:04, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conformation pictures are best for Wiki. White Arabian mare (talk) 18:30, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pets

[edit]

As a person who grew up with Coonhounds, I'm concerned that this article is promoting them as the perfect pet. They are a good pet if you live in the country, can put up with lots of noise, and don't mind big, slobbery dogs. They are too noisy and active for a city apartment. I'm afraid this article is doing the Walker breed a disservice. White Arabian Filly (Neigh) 02:31, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

the standards as written for the Treeing Walker Coonhounds is not correct on temperment, or facts and various other misinformed information. PLEASE check with UKC on the standards and temperment of these wonderful, versital dogs.Animalady 15:34, 27 September 2007 (UTC) Good start on article, however need some external sourcing. Also needs greater in depth on history and development of breed. Macboots (talk) 05:01, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
