"Environmental damage" section
[edit]---revised by n00b to fix some of the issues mentioned below. In addition, I deleted a couple of phrases that did not have citations where citations are needed. Specifically: "and has been ranked as one of the most effective members of the North Carolina General Assembly" By whom? Need to cite, especialy given current divisive views on the general assembly.
"Tom has been the recipient of several awards for his legislative work and is ranked as one of the most pro-business members of the General Assembly." Again, by whom? Need to cite.

I'm new-ish to this, so bear with me.
I'd like to question this part: "In response to environmental damage by Duke Energy Inc, he will draft legislation in May 2014 that will require Duke Energy to clean up its coal ash ponds, including the one in Buncombe County."
This is unattributed to a reliable, authoritative source and describes an action in the future that might not happen or might be modified to such an extent that this description is inaccurate.
It would be better like this: "In response to environmental damage by Duke Energy Inc, he plans to draft legislation in May 2014 that will require Duke Energy to clean up its coal ash ponds, including the one in Buncombe County."
And it would be better for such a statement to indicate over what time period that cleanup would be supposed to happen according to the legislation. Here's a good place to get that info as a citation, and include the "five to 10 years" quote: [1]
In addition, this entry would be better if it included Apodaca's other votes on environmental issues, especially water quality issues, like in Senate Bill 229 from 2011: [2]
