Thracian Chersonese what ?

[edit]

This location is not a deserted historical location. Just the contrary, it is quite populous and it was the place of the famous campaign in the World war I. So I can't understand why the aricle has been named Thracian Chersonese instead of Gelibolu Peninsula, the present name. We must consider to change the name. Is Elaeus Ilios / Wilusa / Troy?

[edit]

The name Elaeus would seem to suggest Ilios or ancient Wilusa, also known as Troy. Its location and topography is also more suited to Homeric Troy than the hill currently thought to be Troy. Has anyone excavated round Elaeus? Lgh (talk) 09:19, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
