No, it is not the complete Septuagint

[edit]

"Thomson's translation of the entire Greek Bible, excluding the Apocrypha, . . . " Please, read that statement again and, I believe, you'll see the problem with it, namely, Thomson's work does not represent a translation of the entire LXX. Please, revise accordingly..Mwidunn (talk) 17:47, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thompson's was the first English translation of the Septuagint published, and was considered by British biblical scholars to represent the best in American scholarship.

When I read that, I started laughing. In all honesty, I don't know what that means, given that British scholars often had little respect for American scholarship, often for good reasons. Does this mean they gave it grudging respect, but it still wasn't up to British standards? --Prosfilaes 02:03, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Total extension of published work

[edit]

Sorry, but I don't understand the statement "It was published in one thousand sets of four volumes each." Does it mean the work is four-thousand-volume long? Or that it was published in sets of four volumes and that they sold one thousand copies? I guess it is the latter case. Aldo L (talk) 03:17, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
