The Tender Bar
[edit]It is so refreshing to watch a movie about real life?? However, the critics didn’t seem to agree. What’s up these days with them? It is very disturbing that if a film doesn’t use super power characters, explosions, apocalypse-style storylines (you catch my drift here), critics give average to low marks. The Tender Bar is a slice of real life. It’s beautifully cast and directed. Music is very fitting. Should’ve been better reviewed by them. 172.75.145.170 (talk) 15:33, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- WP:NOTFORUM this page is not a forum, this page is supposed to be used to discuss how to improve the Wikipedia article about the film.
- To improve the article, I have included a quote from The New York Times which I hope will help readers get a better sense of what they will get from the film, they say it's "a mellow buzz" of film. I think most people get enough "real life" already but if viewers have a decent idea of what they are getting they might enjoy this nostalgic memoir.[1] If anything I am surprised that some critics were as generous as they were,[2] I didn't dislike like the film, I wish it had been more, but I wouldn't be in any hurry to recommend it either. It is a coming of age story, it is a writer writing about writing, it is not particularly original Hollywood solipsism.
- Plenty of people will like the film and hopefully we can provide them with a well written encyclopedia article that will give readers enough information to figure out if this might be the kind of film they would like (and give gentle warnings to viewers who may be bored by it all and should give it a miss). The Reception section could do with plenty more work. -- 109.76.209.28 (talk) 16:05, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
The grammar in the article needs to be improved
[edit]There are many sentences that are actually independent clauses spliced together with commas (comma splice). But there’s something deeper than that where the cause and effect are wrong. I can’t toggle back to grab an example but there are many. If you look at the sentence under “plot” about confronting the “school yard psychologist” it abruptly pivots to being about the character realizing the boy is a good writer. The whole plot section has this problem. NomChompsk1 (talk) 23:13, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
