Buffalo News article

[edit]

The article listed here, http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060214/1064138.asp, appears to no longer be valid. Is there an archived version somewhere (other then the one on Buffalo News, which doesn't appear to be freely available)? --Inaxdaze 13:46, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

At the time I put the link it was valid. I guess The Buffalo News does not have free archives, so we cannot link to it. --Asbl 18:41, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Inaxdaze, missing the article is not too big of a loss. Basically the article was about the new progressive radio station in Buffalo, and The Stephanie Miller Show is mentioned mostly in passing. --Asbl 05:46, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't think it would be too big of a loss, but I figured I should check to make sure! :) --Inaxdaze 19:50, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Her show is mentioned mostly when someone passes away? Hmmmm. (LOL?) Marc S. Dania Fl 206.192.35.125 (talk) 21:19, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Squeezy McFeelpants

[edit]

I have found on the net the following statement:

That senator who is against sexy cheerleading is Squeezy McFeelpants.

I also remember hearing that name on the show, but I do not know, who was that name applied to. Please help if you can. --Asbl 07:38, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mystery solved. Miller used the nickname on her Nov 2 show. --Asbl 16:46, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Radio Stations

[edit]

There are a couple of anonymous users who keep deleting the radio stations section of the article. For those users, please discuss your issues here. Please do not delete without discussing. If you have legitimate reasons why the section should be removed, we will be happy to accomodate you. Please note that deleting w/o explanation may be construed as vandalism. --Asbl 16:28, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Color-coded Affiliate List

[edit]

I kind of like the idea of the red/blue color coding on the affiliate list, but at least on my screen, it looks awful and makes the actual information hard to read. Thoughts? MPWard 21:29, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I spent about an hour trying to find the right shade of red to make it even half way descent. The problem is that if you use the Wikipedia way to hypertext, you are limited in the color of the link. Over the next few days I'll try different colors for the text using a <a> html flag. --Asbl 21:41, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd personally have no problem if the colors went away if you can't find a more readable combo. It's not really vital information that needs to be there. MPWard 23:00, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where to put it?

[edit]

To Asbl or any of our regular contributors here - I think somewhere in here we should put the show's recent running joke "The Paper" - i.e. to refer to material from tabloids or other less than mainstream or offbeat news sources. I'm just not sure where to put it or how to word it. MPWard 04:45, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps under show features? --Asbl 11:30, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Station List

[edit]

Ummm...I hate to break it to whoever did the edit, but some of the cities listed in the "also" category next to affiliate cities are a bit generous. WVLY/1370 doesn't have a listenable signal anywhere really near Pittsburgh [1] and WCHL/1360 the same with Greensboro/High-Point [2]. Anything outside the second "purple" circle on these maps should be considered straining through massive static to hear the station, and the stations are also somewhat more likely to get nearby channel interference there. For example, 1370 out of Moundsville WV (license city for WVLY) is just 10 KHz away from WPTT/1360 Mckeesport PA, which likely wipes it out anywhere near Pittsburgh. I don't mean to be a stickler about this, but...there's really no one near Pittsburgh listening to WVLY, and no one near Greensboro listening to WCHL... MPWard 00:27, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing that, Asbl! I did not even notice that Cleveland was on the "also" list. You CAN hear WARF in much of the Cleveland area, but as a rule, it is best to remove all of the "also" lines. MPWard 06:55, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What are her ratings like? Shouldn't that be referenced? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.4.59.205 (talk) 20:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone update the San Francisco web site to the site for Green 960, and change the call letters to KKGN? I'd do it myself, but I'm blind and can't use the word verification.

Is the Stephanie Miller Show broadcast in Albuquerque?

[edit]

Recently, anonymous user 4.235.XXX.YYY has been trying to insert Albuquerque to the list of stations. I found the Albuquerque progressive talk station to be KABQ ,1350 AM. According to their web site, The Stephanie Miller Show is not broadcast on that station. I therefore doubt that the show is heard in Albuquerque. --Asbl 21:35, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Stephanie Miller Show actually is broadcast in Albuquerque, but not on KABQ 1350 AM. It's broadcast in the evenings by KAGM 106.3 FM. It seems to fill the dead space between the end of their local programming and their officially listed syndicated programming. It doesn't show up in their program listing, but it is on the air.GMT 03:41, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. Either Miller is not aware of it, or she has not yet updated her web site to reflect the fact that she is on the air in Albuquerque. I checked the station's schedule posted on its web site, and there seems to be a hole between 6 and 8 pm. Is that the "dead space" you are referring to? --Asbl 12:19, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

German Squeezy

[edit]

I remember that there was a German version of Squeezy fairly recently (in the last 1 1/2 months) but I forget his name or why he was created, anyone remember?

Guy-Smiley 16:22, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was Squeezling von Fühlhosen, created because a female DJ in Germany was suspended or fired, something having to do with her breasts. Stephanie pointed out that breasts can in fact be seen on radio--it's one of the first things they teach at chick DJ school. Squeezling von Fühlhosen was on hand to investigate.

Tap dance

[edit]

The "tap dance" is one of the most common sound effects on the program, and belongs in the sound effects section. However, I don't know the source of this sound-clip... does anyone know? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jahurt (talkcontribs) .

Yes, the tap dance sound effect is from "Puttin' on the Ritz" and I have updated the page to reflect this. Stephanie recently played a more full version of "Puttin' on the Ritz". It featured the vocal verses, followed by the very familiar tap dance part. --Danielsangeo 12:50, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sound Effects

[edit]

Can anyone source the "NO, Stephanie (or Stephania)! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!" that usually accompanies an admonishment of Stephanie from Chris or Jim? Or, for that matter, the "--slut! She's a slut! Look at her--slut!" That drop is referenced elsewhere in the entry, but is not sourced.Thebookpolice 15:24, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stephanie just indicated where the Stephania clip came fromThebookpolice 15:12, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Mark Foley Entries

[edit]

Y'all should also think about adding entries for Mark Foley to the "Impressions" and "Jingles" sections. Ward's impression of the ousted congressman resembles "Snagglepuss," with the Snagglepuss theme often playing in the background. Also, whenever the Foley scandal is discussed, "La Cazo (sp?) Foley" is played.

Split?

[edit]

This page has become very long. I think the sections which list the various content of the show can be moved onto a separate page. It could include the entire Show Features section, and also the Impersonations and Nicknames/Future Husbands. The new page would be titled something like "Comedic elements of The Stephanie Miller Show"; not a catchy title, granted, but one that describes most of the info. For similar examples, see Sketches on Letterman and Sketches from Late Night with Conan O'Brien. -- Mainstream Nerd 23:20, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox

[edit]

I've created a Steph userbox, which you are welcome to add to your user page.

The code is: {{User:Henrymrx/stephuserbox}}

and it produces the following:

This user listens to
The Stephanie Miller Show.

Enjoy!

Stephanie has been dropped from Sirius satellite radio

[edit]

As of 11/14, Sirius no longer carries it. Anyone know why? What's the story?

Also, I could not find the word "sirius" on the current page - and the last edit is shown as 11/3. Was it removed before then? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.82.197.128 (talk) 16:22, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know the story, and it would be interesting to find out. Anyway, it looks like the reference to Sirius was removed in the 171944994 edit by Seventypercent. ~ 67.183.130.36 (talk) 09:05, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
According to Stephanie Miller's personal article, Sirius wanted to replace syndicated hosts with in-house hosts (however this is uncited). Sirius does air one hour of the show at 8 PM EST as of Dec 3, 2007. As far as I know, Stephanie never addressed the issue on air, only in her blog. --Locano (talk) 17:18, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article WAY too big

[edit]

This needs to be trimmed considerably. The lists of impersonations, etc. is too long and should be in a different section, if necessary, or removed. Wasn't a similar list of Rush Limbaugh parodies deleted?

After all, Stephanie Miller has a small radio show, with only like 40 affiliates, so way too much time is being devoted to her.--Don1962 (talk) 12:18, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've split off the list of comedy to its own page and linked it back to a comedy section. Shinerunner (talk) 22:16, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updated article - September 2017

[edit]

This article was initially created in 2005. I discovered it was out of date in Spring 2017 and over the last six months have made extensive edits and additions. Unfortunately, much of what I wrote, along with long-standing content that had been part of the page for several years was deleted on September 24th. Before making major changes in this page, particularly deletions, I would ask that they be discussed here so we can arrive at consensus in a civil fashion. If there issues with sourcing, content, etc., then let's discuss them. Simply making massive deletions at editorial discretion does not show respect for the extensive time and effort others have put in to attempt to put together an engaging well-sourced article, that fully documents the history and background of a radio show that has 6 million listeners. Personally I never delete any content unless its out of date or incorrect. I also obsessively try to back everything I write with a reference. I realize that sometimes those references are primary source, but if there no other source, my view is better that, than nothing. Dpurcyhoff (talk) 11:26, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles should mostly summarize what reliable, independent secondary sources say about the topic. Usage of primary sources should be minimal and uncontroversial. Excessive use of primary sources is worse than nothing because this transforms a neutral encyclopedia article into a fan site. I am opposed on principle to including trivia cited to primary sources. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:17, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Premiere Date?

[edit]

According to multiple obituaries, Anne Beatts started writing for the Stephanie Miller show in 1995, but this page juyst says it premiered in 2004. How can this be rectified? Kire1975 (talk) 13:23, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
