Yes of course the valise, thank you for reminding me.

And Victor's work is not motivated by Mr. Goodman's. He only discovers Mr. Goodman's "Biography" while visiting Cambridgeshire.

V for Victor

[edit]

Nabokov was, by the end of his relationship with Andrew Field, pretty resistant to the younger man's efforts to write about him. Mightn't the "V stands for Victor" have been a flippant dismissal of any personal connection to the initial? Dybryd 00:27, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Field's biographies of Nabokov are not well-regarded anymore, and I hate to see them cited here, compared to, say, the work of Brian Boyd. I considered removing the V is for Victor reference, but haven't fully decided to do so yet. -- PKtm 00:52, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Granted, yet none the less Boyd himself deemed it credible enough to include it in his notes to the Library of America edition of Nabokov.

Spoiler

[edit]

I deleted the spoiler warning -- it was in the plot section and, frankly, there's nothing there that spoils anything for anyone. I'm for spoiler warnings when they're warranted, but not here. Accounting4Taste 21:32, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Nabokov-Knight.jpg

[edit]

Image:Nabokov-Knight.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

His Newborn Son

[edit]

Dmitri Nabokov was born in Berlin in 1934. Vladimir Nabokov cannot, therefore, have "retreated into the washroom to write, so as not to disturb his wife and newborn son" in Paris in 1938. How can this contradiction be resolved? 86.212.43.61 (talk) 23:14, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Remove the suggestion until it can be substantiated.--Mr. Stein (talk) 19:19, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Summary

[edit]

The plot summary was brief and poorly worded, so I reworked it almost entirely. --Mr. Stein (talk) 19:18, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
