portrait collection

[edit]

Hi: Have you considered adding a section in the article talking about the national portrait collection and perhaps include an image? Terracotta11 (talk) 14:05, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion of Holdings

[edit]

I've expanded the holdings section and renamed it collections to accommodate the non-textual material. I wanted to provide a more comprehensive overview of the material within the archives, with a particular emphasis on the diversity of the media. This is why I broke the section into subsections: to allow for other contributors to add information about each individual collection as their knowledge permits. I encourage those who are familiar with particular aspects of the collections to add to each subsection, since what I've provided is structure more than anything else. National Portrait Collection

[edit]

I'd like to suggest the addition of a list of the activists featured in the portrait collection, to get them on Wikipedia's radar. Many of them don't have a Wikipedia page, or are on pages relegated to orphan status (as in Kiss and Tell collective ). SeMelmoth (talk) 18:29, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely a good idea — in addition to the reasons you already mentioned, it might even help us catch some oversights (i.e. people who have articles which aren't properly sourced and categorized for relevance to LGBT issues, people who don't have articles but probably should, etc.), too. Is there a list available directly from the CLGA website that we could work from? Or if there isn't, do you know where else we could find one? I've bookmarked the National Portrait Collection section of the CLGA website, which does indeed have a directory of its inductees — I'm not going to get to it right away, because I'm about to head out for some errands and such, but I'll start adding the names this evening or over the weekend as I have some time. Done. For the record, however, the effort didn't actually help to deorphanize Kiss and Tell collective by itself, as the organization as a whole is not represented in the collection and only one member of it is represented as an individual — however, that individual is a genuinely notable writer and artist whom I can't even comprehend why she still doesn't even have an article yet, so she will very soon and that will help to deorphanize the collective. Blackbridge now has an article; I was also able to directly wikilink the collective itself in List of Lambda Literary Award winners. Bearcat (talk) 21:41, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
