The result of the move request was: not moved. The consensus here leans towards opposition to renaming the article. The stronger argument is that the historical event is a more significant and recognized topic, and "Tangier Incident" is commonly used in reference to this crisis in various sources. Disambiguating the term by retaining the parenthetical "(film)" in the article title would be the most appropriate solution, ensuring clarity and avoiding confusion for readers searching for either the film or the historical event.

Therefore, the consensus is to keep the current title "Tangier Incident (film)" and, if necessary, add a hatnote to guide users to the First Moroccan Crisis. (closed by non-admin page mover) Vanderwaalforces (talk) 22:15, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tangier Incident (film)Tangier Incident – Sole such main title header, thus obviating need for the parenthetical qualifier "(film)". As for the entry delineating a relatively minor historical event from nearly 120 years ago, which is not known as "Tangier incident" and which currently does not carry a hatnote pointing to the film, a hatnote to the effect — "For the Tangier Crisis of 1905–06, see First Moroccan Crisis" — would suffice atop the film's entry. If consensus approves, a lowercase header — "Tangier incident" — could be created as a redirect to First Moroccan Crisis. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 19:43, 23 September 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. 98𝚃𝙸𝙶𝙴𝚁𝙸𝚄𝚂 [𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙺] 13:23, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support – I agree that the film is the primary topic here. Britannica says that the First Moroccan Crisis is Also known as: Tangier Incident, so a hatnote would be good. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:08, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for finding the Britannica entry and the fact that the 1905–06 event has been also referenced as "Tangier Incident". The fairly extensive English Wikipedia article does not mention "Tangier Incident" as the event's alternative name, while the fact that this main header's sole user is a B movie diminishes somewhat its subject's notability, but ultimately consensus will determine if the hatnote atop the film's entry should be considered sufficient for anyone typing "Tangier Incident" or "Tangier incident", while initiating a search for the First Moroccan Crisis. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 16:55, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
