Article rating
[edit]this article needs to be rated higher. Datta-Ray is a regular columnist in several newspapers and is therefore an opinion maker. Charlie79 (talk) 19:13, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- The rating has nothing to do with the importance of Datta-Ray, it is a measure of the quality of the writing/sources/formatting of the actual Wikipedia article. I agree it should be rated higher, but that means more work will need to be done to clean it up and make it a better article. Thanks for all your help so far. Plastikspork (talk)
- Thanks for your vote of confidence and advice. I think one of the moderators of the India group has taken a dislike to me ... all because I would not accept his (mistaken) edits Charlie79 (talk) 21:29, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, this is not your blog, so you do not have think aloud here. Importance wise, it is set rightly for India project. Other projects will set their own importance. Currently, this article is rated as start-class. To get higher rating, more work is needed. For example,
- the claims need to ascertained by the used references. Reference for 1st sentence does not prove that he was the first journalist to write for both IHT and Time.
- Nellie Sen Gupta's importance is supported by ref. What is importance of her husband? Why is his name mentioned in the article?
- Add infobox, see if you can collect free pic etc.
- you can remove stub template as the article has moved beyond stub-class.--GDibyendu (talk) 06:08, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with GDibyendu - this article has been appropriately graded. I'm too reluctant to give C-class currently because of the above points; there's, no infobox, no image (if possible), and more appropriate referencing is needed. Additionally, several books have been given citations to websites like Amazon, etc. Each book should have basic details in the reference section (i.e. author, co-authors, year of publication, title, publisher, country/city, etc.) - readers shouldn't need to be forced to go to an external website to find out those details. In other words, higher grades require a lot more work. Ncmvocalist (talk) 06:44, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- I fixed the amazon links, and started an infobox. More work is needed (as suggested). I can help with these more technical problems. Plastikspork (talk) 16:22, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

This article is totally biased in favor of this person and is clearly being edited by his friends and relatives if not himself. It contains a lot of irrelevant nonsense too that does not befit such a journalist. Journalists should try to be credible!Seekers2008 (talk) 11:02, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. The same editor has also written a page on Sunanda's son, which I am planning to put in Afd.--GDibyendu (talk) 11:34, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds reasonable. I'm glad to see there is renewed interest in improving the article. Plastikspork (talk) 16:01, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
