Not sure if Bo Wallner suggests it (worth seeing if he does, in his monograph on them) but Stenhammar's 4th string quartet (1904-9) seems to owe something to this quartet (as it does also to works by Beethoven and others- to this editor's ear using them as inspiration rather than drowning from "derivativeness" but that's neither here nor there...) Since this is Grieg's only extant completed string quartet, the addition of a number is wrong and misleading. The article should simply be titled String Quartet (Grieg).(see also List of compositions by Edvard Grieg: no number mentioned there either) Carlotta Nardi (talk) 22:04, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
