Pseudounipolar neurons
[edit]This is probably only a matter of semantics, but I believe that neurons in the Dorsal Root Ganglion are considered to be "Pseudounipolar" neurons not "Unipolar" neurons.
- An encyclopedia is a good place to be clear on matters of semantics. :-) I've corrected the article. In the future, feel free to do so yourself -- this is a wiki, after all! Cheers, David Iberri (talk) 23:25, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Anterolateral system
[edit]In the past 3 years, the Lateral and Anterior Spinothalamic tracts have merged to become the Anterolateral Spinothalamic Tract (ALS). This page should be updated to reflect this (Waysensei (talk) 18:55, 11 October 2008 (UTC)).
Location of cell bodies
[edit]Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that the cell bodies of the STT are located in the substantia gelatinosa and the nucleus proprius? The STT is largely composed of these, secondary neurons, and not of the primary sensory neurons based in the DRGs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.1.79.78 (talk) 15:32, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Location of First Synapse
[edit]This article, as well as the one on the substantia gelatinosa, states that the first synapse of the spinothalamic tract occurs in the ipsilateral substantia gelatinosa (lamina II), and I have seen this elsewhere. However, Blumenfeld in Neuroanatomy through Clinical Cases (2nd edition, p. 280) says this synapse occurs in the marginal zone (lamina I) or lamina V, with no mention of lamina II. Can someone comment on this discrepancy? Aarongeller (talk) 14:03, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Proposed merge with Anterior spinothalamic tract
[edit]Confusing, needless to have as a separate article. Would benefit readers by locating in its central article, giving more context, centralising information, and reducing confusing fragmentation. Tom (LT) (talk) 00:22, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
Agreed- components of a single tract should be isolated to a single article to avoid giving the (false) impression that they are separate entities.

Third-ed. Both the lateral spinothalamic and anterior spinothalamic tracts are subsets of the anterolateral spinothalamic pathway and should be included in one article together. Agreed, I definitely think there should just be sections for the anterior and posterior sections -- separating them would be very confusing because then what would be the point of this article itself? Claire (Bkwrm) —Preceding undated comment added 21:16, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
