Misinterpreted of my Sonowal Kacharis

[edit]

They are not gold washers. They are the descendants of Hiranyakashipura who love golden colour. Hence Sonowal Kacharis P0rkan0x (talk) 13:59, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that is properly sourced. Descent from Hiranyakashipu is problematic to write in an article about a real ethnic group, since the former was a Rakshasa (demon) is Hindu myths, one cannot determine lineage from a mythical character, only claim it. Secondly, nothing like their fixation to golden color is mentioned in the source. Third, Wikipedia articles cannot be used as sources as per WP:UGC. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:46, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sonowal KacharisSonowal people – Sonowal people is standard form e.g. Dimasa people for Dimasa-kachari KPAhmed (talk) 17:57, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - Note that a lot of articles for major ethno linguistic groups end with the -is suffix, viz. Punjabis, Bengalis, Tamils, Greeks, Germans, etc. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:04, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose: It is customary to call this group "Sonowal Kachari", not Sonowal. A Sonowal could be a Kachari or not. Nevertheless, it might be OK to have this move Sonowal KachariSonowal Kachari people. Chaipau (talk) 08:40, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A Sonowal could be a Kachari or not then how does it make sense to call them Sonowal kachari ? It makes more sense to write their origin separately. Don't know if Wikipedia care about customary claims KPAhmed (talk) 12:04, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a government link that mentions "Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council" [1]. Chaipau (talk) 21:25, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Assamese government will recognise Kachari Muslim also. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/assam-govt-for-economic-survey-of-kachari-muslims/article30926943.ece/amp/ KPAhmed (talk) 05:44, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
