Hanton City?

[edit]

I grew up in Smithfield, and reading that there's a Hanton City in the town is news to me -- I'd never heard of it. I remember the five villages being Esmond, Greenville, Georgiaville, Stillwater, and Spragueville; no Hanton City, no Mountaindale with a Mountaindale Beach. (There is a Mountaindale Rd. in Smithfield but no access to a beach off of it.) 71.192.28.103 (talk) 02:46, 27 October 2008 (UTC) I grew up on Walter Carey Road and there was a public beach called Mountaindale Beach with a huge rope swing , a raft that kids would swim out to , and a gate house leading to a small waterfall. Even though the water wasn't very clean it was fairly popular while I lived there in the 60's and 70's. The beach was on the South Side of Mountaindale Road. We used to catch large mouth bass at the bottom of the waterfall. there were snakes in the water. My brother's friend, Lee Hawkins, broke his neck when he hit the bottom diving off the gate house and passed away there.[reply]

Founding and Incorporation Dates

[edit]

was first settled in the 1600s is a very long time span! Does anyone have a smaller frame? Also, anyone know the incorporation date? 76.102.31.185 (talk) 02:59, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
