No technological explanation of sixaxis motion sensing technology?
[edit]I would like to know the technology behind the sixaxis motion sensing technology, and it seems that this articles has none. 85.206.16.238 (talk) 08:01, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Sixaxis. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20100329153339/http://www.davieslim.com:80/ps3/use-ps3-controller-in-windows-wireless-bluetooth/ to http://www.davieslim.com/ps3/use-ps3-controller-in-windows-wireless-bluetooth/
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

I'm not exactly sure it's a misnomer
[edit]Sure, mathematically it could be, but in an "engineering" standpoint, a motion controller that offers 3 axes of accelerometer and 3 of gyroscope might be loosely called "using 6 axes" (sure this particular controller might not be strictly with 3 gyroscope axes but still). --fs 09:58, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
Hello, same thing here; I added a {{Citation needed}} tag, because the claim that the controller name stems from the "six degrees of freedom" seems rather arbitrary. The six axis present in the sensors inside the controller seem a lot more logical, as fs aptly said. So to resolve this situation, an actual citation from Sony or a person with insider knowledge would be preferable.
Should Sixaxis and Dualshock 3 be merged?
[edit]I have a PS3, and I have one Dualshock and one Sixaxis. They are so similar that until today I thought they were the same controller. In fact, I think they should be one article. What do you think? MarioFyreFlower (talk) 12:17, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
