And the six ages came and went....

So, how did they take it when the first millennium came and went with no Judgment Day or End Times or anything?

Among adherents of some modern fundamentalist/evangelical Christian movements, there has been a resurgence in this belief that Judgement Day is liable to come RSN; some fundamentalist Christians have claimed, as their ancient predecessors had done, that the End of Days would occur in a particular year. As far as I know, even though these years have come and gone with no Judgment Day, End Times, etc., the would-be prophets do not seem to be ruffled or even embarrassed by the failure of their predictions. I wonder if this was also the case among the many Medieval people who revered Augustine as a saint and one of the most important church fathers (not to mention the church itself, which owed much of its theology to him).
