Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the Fishmans are certainly significant enough to warrant their own page. They are considered one of the most significant and influential dub/dream pop bands. Sato wrote the Fishmans' songs and was the lead singer and frontman of the group. I realize that there are not many English articles written about him. This is because the Fishmans' popularity is less pronounced in the West. Doing a bit of research into the band (and Sato himself) will reveal the group's impact and burgeoning popularity, even among Western listeners. HMV, for example, lists the group as one of the top Japanese pop bands (http://www.hmv.co.jp/news/article/308260014/). I did not start this article flippantly. I am convinced Sato and the Fishmans are significant. YouTube videos containing bits of their music have amassed tens of thousands of views (in some cases, nearly 100,000 views). In light of independent articles on many relatively "minor" personalities, this article should stay. I urge you to consider the wide influence ad popularity of the Fishmans (especally in recent years), and remove this article from the speedy deletion queue. --FindingEllipsoids (talk) 07:48, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
