[edit]In the right-hand box I don't like "Established" - "Founded" is better since monasteries had founders, in this case one Thomas Fitz Gospatrick, who founded it c. 1190 at Preston Patrick (no placename given in article). Slightly interesting both founder and place involve name of Patrick! ! also don't like the use of "Disestablished" since that has a very specific, legal, meaning in terms of the Church of England. Much better is "Dissolved" since the process was called "the dissolution of the monasteries".
The delay from 1536 to 1540 was because the abbey paid a (large) fine of £266 13s 4d. This information, and that in the paragraph above, comes from "English Mediaeval Monsteries 1066-1540: A summary" ,by Roy Midmer, published by Heinemann (London, 1979), pp. 282-283. I have tried to edit these changes into the article, but my skills are not up to it. Perhaps someone else would like to try? ShropshirePilgrim (talk) 01:00, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
