Benedetti method 1574
[edit]Hello,
I've been looking at these designs and the angle between 6AM and 7 AM in the Dürer method is 18.8 degrees. In the Benedetti method the angle between 6AM and 7AM is 23.5 degrees. As they are both designs for a hoizontal dial they cannot both be correct.
I am fairly sure the method given for Benedetti is for a VERTICAL dial. For the horizontal dial the method is the same but the 52 degree latitude angle should be between drawn from the HORIZONTAL ( giving 18.8 degrees) NOT THE VERTICAL.
It's a very elegant method and I'd hate to think of a novice making this dial and being baffled by its inaccuracy.
