Shouldn't we have a separate article on Schaumburg-Lippe? john k 19:39, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is the spelling of Schaumburg correct, or should it be Schaumberg?

[edit]

Based on a quick Web search, the locale in Germany is (or was originally) spelled Schaumberg (not Schaumburg). The (apparently American) spelling of Schaumberg is widespread on the Web, however, including most related articles in Wikipedia. Perhaps folk etymology / spelling is the source of this apparent error; perhaps both spellings are now acceptable in Germany, which seems unlikely, given the difference in meaning of "berg" and "burg."

Feedback from our German geschwistern would be appreciated. (And I hope that I used the German word for "brothers and sisters" correctly! German is the only language with such a word for siblings of both genders.)
