Fair use rationale for Image:Savitardcu0.jpg
[edit]Image:Savitardcu0.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. His voice on The Flash?
[edit]In the 2014 television series The Flash, Savitar is the main antagonist of season 3. However, as his voice has technically been uncredited so far, I am seeing conflicting reports on who voices him--it is either Ciarán Hinds, or Tobin Bell (the latter of whom does voice Savitar's right-hand-man Doctor Alchemy, so casting the same actor in both roles would in theory have major plot significance down the line). Is there any confirmation on which one? In fact, even here on Wikipedia the pages for both actors list Savitar among their credits. Which one is it? Or perhaps Ciarán Hinds voiced him in the final scene of "Shade", but Tobin Bell took over the reins in the following episode "Killer Frost"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Speyeker (talk • contribs) 19:03, 3 December 2016 (UTC) --45.72.149.148 (talk) 07:01, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Savitar (comics) → Savitar – There is no other article with the same name. The solar deity who the DC character was named after is Savitr. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:25, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose Savitar is the spelling used for the deity in many English editions of the Rig Veda. In fact seems to be used in about a third of English editions. Kailash29792 sorry but "no other article with the same name" is not what matters, Wikipedia is not a reliable source. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:09, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. No clear primary usage. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:48, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

In the episode "The Once And Future Flash" Savitar revealed his identity to Killer Frost (Caitlin Snow) but his identity wasn't show to the camera, to the public, his identity was revealed in the episode "I Know Who You Are". Fix that with the actual information please.
- Note: I added "....... to her....... " in the sentence, as the Savitar's identity was only revealed to her but not to the audience in the episode "The Once And Future Flash". Does that make it better? regards, DRAGON BOOSTER ★ 10:52, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
Who is Tito Byrd?
[edit]The publication history reads "He was also created and drawn by Tito Byrd." It appears this statement was added by an anonymous user with a history of vandalism, so I'm inclined to remove it, but I can't because the article is currently semi-protected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Logipath (talk • contribs) 21:15, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Arrowverse/TV sections: Too long?
[edit]I feel like the page's description of the TV show's version of the character is far too detailed, amounting to a description of every significant action the character took in season 3. I trimmed the section down to a small summary, but User:LightandDark2000 immediately reverted the change. What do other people think?
I won't restore my change, but I will add {summarize} tags to the relevant sections, to hopefully bring in more opinions... — Narsil (talk) 01:20, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- Adendum: I won't add those template tags yet, since there doesn't seem to be a way to steer people from the template box to this discussion. Instead, I'll leave it alone until/unless there's consensus. — Narsil (talk) 01:34, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- I agree. Not only is it given undue weight (see WP:INDISCRIMINATE), but it reads like a poorly-written blow-by-blow of each Season 3 episode's plot summmary. The sections on the CW iteration here should be shorter than the Season 3 episode summaries, otherwise it can be a form of content forkery attempting to bypass clear attempts to combat bloat elsewhere.
- And per this edit summary by @LightandDark2000:, it can indeed be just a simple summary. I suppose we can discuss what the purpose is. But remember that, just because it isn't against the rules to provide excessive detail doesn't mean it should be done. — Ƶ§œš¹ [lɛts b̥iː pʰəˈlaɪˀt] 05:36, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- If they are to be shortened, then I think that most of the specific biographical content should be moved to a new section under Character Biography titled "Arrowverse." I will do this shortly. LightandDark2000 (talk) 19:18, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- I don't think that would be helpful. The issue is whether there's too much information here. Moving the information around wouldn't settle it. In fact, I think that exacerbates the problem. In every other case where we have a page for a comic book character (who appears in multiple adaptations), all the info about each portrayal is in one place. Take, for example, Deadshot. If you want to find out about the Arrowverse Deadshot, all the information is in In other media → Television → Live action, in the second bullet point. The information isn't scattered between "Biography", "Powers and abilities", and "In other media"--nor should it be. Here, as well, all the Arrowverse information should be in one place, in In other media → Television.
- The issue is, some of us feel that the Arrowverse material is far too long and detailed, amounting to almost a full recap of Season 3 of The Flash. Really, we should be able to boil it down to 100 words or so: Actor portraying him, origin, motivations, just as a high-level sketch. People who want a full plot summary can get it elsewhere, that is not (per WP:PLOT) what Wikipedia is for.
- (I'd also suggest waiting on further revisions while this discussion is going on; otherwise we could easily slide into an edit war.) — Narsil (talk) 20:06, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- Wikipedia has naturally included some detailed biographical information on major fictional characters and villains, so I think that the information should be retained here in some way. If it shouldn't be in the "Television" section, then it should be moved into the Character Biography section under a new subheading, which is the more accepted form on the articles of other primary characters (like Barry Allen's page). I've seen a couple of other DC character articles where this has been done and accepted, but I can't recall them at the moment. Also, the main character pages that "summarize" Arrowverse information still include enough details to pinpoint the character's main events and attributes. Just stripping the article of most character-related biographical information is going to deprive a large number of readers of what they came here for in the first place, and there's no Wikipedia policy against retaining the information. I think that moving the information like I suggested earlier, and then condensing the remainder of the "Television" section would be the most appropriate form of action. LightandDark2000 (talk) 20:36, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- Leaving other issues aside--where I think you and I simply disagree, and we'd better wait to see what other people say--I don't see how the Flash (Barry Allen) page supports your suggestion. On that page, the entire Fictional character biography section describes the comic book Barry Allen. All the details about the Arrowverse version are in a single section, In other media → Television → Arrowverse, which is what we should do here. As a rule, the "Fictional character biography" section for a comic book character describes just the comic book version, and the details about adaptations are in the "in other media" section; if there are exceptions I'd like to see links (but of course, it's always possible that those exceptional pages are just set up wrong). — Narsil (talk) 20:51, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- I agree that some of the plot content could be trimmed (it should not sound like a "blow-for-blow" recap for each episode), but the major events and details should be retained. Also, someone reverted my content move, so this could become more complicated later on. I won't revert them as of this writing. I'll trim some of the content in about a week's time. LightandDark2000 (talk) 21:01, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
- Because the content was already trimmed and you reverted it, perhaps you could instead clarify what important biographical information is missing from this version. — Ƶ§œš¹ [lɛts b̥iː pʰəˈlaɪˀt] 15:20, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- There's been no comment for a few days, and it looks like all three of us do now agree that the Arrowverse biography should be shorter. Later today I'll try to trim it down to the essentials, unless I hear objections. My hope is that people will then discuss (here on the talk page) what should be added back in, instead of just reverting the changes... — Narsil (talk) 18:31, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Per above: We seem to have consensus that the TV summary is too long, and LightandDark2000 didn't offer specific suggestions for which facts Ƶ§œš¹ should have kept but didn't. So... I went ahead and rewrote that section. IMO, I kept the essentials: TV-Savitar is a temporal duplicate of Allen; He travels in time to set up the conditions for his own creation; His specific plan is to kill Iris, setting Allen on his dark path; He fails, and is erased from existence.
If there are things we should add, I 'umbly suggest we discuss them here first? What should I have mentioned, but didn't? If people want the full blow-by-blow, it's waiting for them at Television Without Pity... — Narsil (talk) 22:32, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- Derp--Television Without Pity is defunct. But all the details (including the complete show-by-show story) are in the Arrowverse wiki page, and there's a link to that right below the condensed summary, so I think people can get what they need.
- I rewrote the Arrowverse section somewhat to better illustrate the sequence of events from Savitar's origin to his ending. Per the discussion, I kept details to a minimum. DoubleDevil (talk) 16:15, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
