[edit]RJ Renoylds himself died in 1918, so the island was owned either by his estate or the company. Bubba73 (talk) 19:47, 17 September 2005 (UTC)

Evaluation
[edit]The article has a good lead section that describes the geographical aspects of the island as well as its historical significance as the last known Gullah community. The content of the article does not seem to be very up to date thought the content as a whole is relevant—such as including a discussion of the Hog Hammock community. The tone and balance is overall professional and respectful, with multiple viewpoints being represented, and without strong one-sided arguments. The sources and references could be updated to be more current and the list of references is not as thorough as it could be. Although the article draws from multiple references, citations could be more frequent and maybe pulled from better quality sources. The article is organized well with a few major topic sections and the article is fairly well-written in an objective manner. With regards to image and media, the pictures are captioned concisely (perhaps a little bit too much so). The images are laid out okay, but do not add too much to the article and could be changed to reflect more recent and important aspects of Sapelo Island or its history. The talk page discussion is very minimal and seemingly off-topic with small notes by the author that never seem to have been fully addressed. Overall, the article is a good introduction into Sapelo Island that could be better researched and more thorough, but does still provide basic information about the locale. Although underdeveloped, the framework of the article is a strength that editing could greatly improve.Navenp (talk) 17:43, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

PBS America Reframed
[edit]I became aware of this island watching a PBS America refrained episode. I don't see it listed in the sea also's. It was a wonderful hour and a half documentary featuring many minutes of interviews with Cornelia Walker Bailey. Where should the section about the gangway collapse go?
[edit]Hello, I've edited in a small section about the recent gangway collapse, but I'm still wondering if it should be in the Hog Hammock section or the History section (where I originally put it before I moved it to the Hog Hammock section). Ye9CYNMD (talk) 05:31, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
