This page is im Werdegang-- at the moment I'm putting up a bunch of related primary source stuff on Wikisource. Mrgah 14:30, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Does this really need to be a separate page? Tuncrypt (talk) 21:46, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]There is clearly a lot that can be said in this article. It needs the attention of either an expert on the subject, or someone with the time and patience to dig up sources and piece together a coherent narrative. Sources are easy to obtain: look at the Indology for inspiration (not that it is any better). Shreevatsa (talk) 03:06, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Title of article
[edit]It might be better to move the page to "Sanskrit studies to the West" or something along those lines. "Sanskrit in ..." suggests that the article will talk about all aspects of the language in the said region. If the article isn't moved, perhaps the lead section should make it clearer eg. "Sanskrit has historically never been spoken in the West nor is it a literary language." Out of the four skills (Reading, writing, listening, speaking) only reading is mastered in Western scholarship. GizzaDiscuss © 03:16, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- Sanskrit studies is a better title for the article. I went ahead and moved it.--Rurik the Varangian (talk) 16:24, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
