Move from Pennes Mirabeau to Olympique Marseilles

[edit]

Clearly, there must be something wrong with this. He couldn't have signed for Pennes at sixteen, and then went on to Marseilles in 1996, as he was only nine years old then. The bio sidebar states that he joined Marseilles in 2000, when he was twelve or thirteen. Surely, at least two of these numbers must be wrong, can someone please correct them?

Arsenal section

[edit]

he will leave france. not to arsenal definately however. Liverpool have first option on him due to cisse deal. Should be removed as just gossip from newspapers. Remove last section, and give title 'Future' —Preceding unsigned comment added by Giddersboy (talkcontribs) 19:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The above is very hypocritical to say the least, there is no substance to the rumour that liverpool have a first option for Samir at all. The Arsenal link is more well founded due to it being commented on by Wenger, Samir and his agent, as well as a host of French players close to Nasri. Obviously until anything is on either Arsenal.com or Fifa.com I would treat it as a non complete transfer. Cheers Andy D--81.111.92.245 (talk) 23:46, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this article is full of opinion and badly sourced and referenced. the arsenal section is completely irrelevant as he has not signed a contract with the club. what arsen wenger thinks of any player outside his squad is not of interest to an encyclopedia. may i suggest removing the whole arsenal section? Agreed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.217.50.3 (talk) 15:53, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd go along with that. Until anything is confirmed its complete speculation. I agree it should be removed. Quincy042 (talk) 16:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The information on wikipedia is meant to be fact based, not rumour based. Sorry.Bloc rock (talk) 22:14, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We should not list him as being an "Arsenal player" in any form until an official body confirms the transfer - such as Marseille's official site, Arsenal's official site, there is a news article on UEFA.com or FIFA.com, etc. Specifically, Goal.com and English tabloids (like News of the World) are extremely unreliable - in fact Goal.com just steals articles from other sources, which in turn steal articles from reputable sources like L'equipe and Skysports, often mistranslating or exaggerating them in the process. ugen64 (talk) 03:57, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't list him as an Arsenal player just yet but there are 2 reliable sources which confirm he will leave France. http://www.football.fr/cmc/scanner/football/200822/om-bernes-confirme-le-depart-de-nasri-a-arsenal_182131.html

Again there is vandalism. Would it be a good idea to increase the protection? The telegraph is a good source but Arsenal have come out and said this deal is still premature. Until it is confirmed - leave this page alone. Shimmy21 (talk) 17:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

whoa whoa whoa who wrote this shit! hes not an arsenal player yet; do you know anything about transfers and tabloids? until you can get a link from arsenal's website, with THEIR WEBSITE confirming him signed, you cant do this! sorry mate, but thats how it goes, the tabloids make this stuff up all the time!

The sheer volume of reliable sources (L'Equipe, France Football, BBC, Sky Sports) means this transfer is about 99% likely to happen. But until it's announced officially, we can only report it as speculation! ugen64 (talk) 17:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

86.27.78.7 (talk) 18:32, 31 May 2008 (UTC) Someone should put in at least a part about the possible transfer to Arsenal, as he said himself it was 99% complete and will be done before EURO 2008. Maybe still under Club Career but have a part with the quotes from Samir and Arsene Wenger so as people visiting the page are aware of the iminent transfer and will know of the situation incase they were wondering.[reply]

Muslim or Christian?

[edit]

If there is no reliable source for his religion he shouldn't be in either category.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 20:21, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is virtually no chance that he is Christian. North Africa is like +99% Muslim. So the choice is between practising Muslim and non-practising Muslim. As for his ethnicity, I believe he's a Kabyle (berber).basically he is a muslim (obviously) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.57.194.96 (talk) 17:29, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. –J10S Talk 20:42, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When Nasri scored against Southampton he revealed a shirt similar like Balotelli but it said Eid Mubarak so that does not mean Nasri is a Christian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.47.132.135 (talk) 19:25, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The link you added is dead; since religious information is highly contentious, we need a very good source. I'm going to take it out for now; if you can correct the source, it can be re-added, but only if Nasri himself explicitly states that he is a non-practicing Muslim. I'll have to wait and see what the source says to determine how exactly this is the case. If he does not self-identify this way, then we should leave it unstated in the article. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:45, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. I didn't know it got that serious. Anyway, I re-added the info and a new source, which is a exact replica of the Le Buteur article, but on a different news site. It is an interview. The interviewer asks him straight up is he is religious and Nasri says "Yes, I am a Muslim, but I do not practice". If that isn't self-identifying, then I don't know what is. –J10S Talk 00:07, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's perfect, thanks! Qwyrxian (talk) 00:26, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
While I don't see an issue including religious background, I find it odd that he should be listed as practicing or non-practicing. How many times to we see someone listed as non-practicing Christian on wikipedia? Just seems really odd. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.73.3.120 (talk) 03:41, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is Nasri in a relationship with Tatiana Golovin can someone please tell the truth and tell me the answer — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.47.132.135 (talk) 19:28, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

samir nasri is not kabyle berber ! he is an arab algerian......his parent come from arabic region of algerien not kabyle region so please dont say shit zidane is kabyle but nasri is not and benzema is not and yes he is a muslim but how can you see he is not practising since when he do the ramadan and muslim things like praying on the field like he do ? maybe at the interview time he was not practising but what i see know that's he is practising but why do u have to precise that he is not practising ? you can young muslim and not practising and get older and practise your religion and please the man who asked the question muslim or christian idiot you are there is no christian in north africa,in the arabic maghreb al maghreb al aarabiyye there is 99.99 % of muslim it's like u said there is a chance for en european american descent he could be muslim of course not.

Third Opinion - Name

[edit]

Request for Third Opinion on the use of Samir Nasri's Muslim name. The objection is given that Samir Nasri is French, and that the name is Arabic. However, it appears that the name is Muslim. Samir Nasri is a Muslim. We have an article on Samir (name) as a Muslim name. The Muslim faith is not a geographical fix - a person can be born in France and be a Muslim. The articles on Samir Nasri in other language wikis use the Arabic version of the name alongside the Latin version. He is sometimes shown in sources with both the Arabic version and the Latin version: [1]. I couldn't find a specific Wiki guideline on this situation, so there is no reported consensus on which way to go. However, I cannot see any satisfactory reason why Samir Nasri's Muslim name cannot be given in Arabic if that is part of his culture and background, as it certainly appears to be - and we already have a number of other bios on Muslims which show the Arabic version of their name, so there is some convention for this usage, even if not codified into a guideline. SilkTork *YES! 01:43, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a second opinion, so I'll give mine. Generally, the biographies that include the Arabic name are for people who were born in Arabic-speaking countries. The English names are transliterations of the original Arabic, so there is a reason to include the original. Nasri was born in France so his legal name is written in the Latin alphabet and does not require transliteration. The Arabic translation of his name should not be in the English Wikipedia.--70.67.84.49 (talk) 07:12, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the issues I managed to find.

  • Extra-time is linked twice
Unlinked the first one I saw. LOL –J10S Talk 22:57, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Maybe the sentence in which Nasri is revealed as the accused person in the book should have one or two extra references because it's a highly controversial matter.
Gotcha. –J10S Talk 22:57, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Nasri returned to the team in June for matches."; An incomplete sentence?

Done. –J10S Talk 22:57, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Luxembourg linked twice in consecutive sentences.
Oops. Done. –J10S Talk 22:57, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • According to WP:MOS you should try to avoid linking multiple consecutive words like you are doing in here "Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris". Though I really don't know how avoid this happening in this particular example
I wiki-linked the first mention of the position in the article and un-linked this mention. –J10S Talk 22:57, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • His official website is down and link should be removed.
Removed. –J10S Talk 22:57, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
