Recognition of same-sex unions in West Virginia → Same-sex marriage in West Virginia – Reason – Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 18:31, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Steel1943 (talk) 22:15, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- Comment: No rationale was provided by the nominator, and the target title used to previously be the name of a different article, LGBT rights in West Virginia, so it's probably best to discuss this move. Steel1943 (talk) 22:15, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry. I thought I included the rationale. There was a legal change today. It's documented in the WP entry now. There have been a series of similar moves as U.S. states have legalized same-sex marriage.
- There is an exiting completely different entry LGBT rights in West Virginia that is not involved in this request. Don't know why that back history matters. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 22:32, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Bmclaughlin9: The back history may not matter, as I am not claiming to be the least bit of an expert of this subject. I just stated the history in case it matters. Steel1943 (talk) 22:40, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support move. This is standard practice for states that have legalized same-sex marriage, and most states have a separate LGBT rights article to cover not just relationship recognition but also employment, hate crimes legislation, etc. So moving this page to the requested title is in line with prior practice. Dralwik|Have a Chat 22:46, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support move. There is now same-sex marriage in WV, so that should be the title of the page. Difbobatl (talk) 23:33, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support move. Considering the same alterations to the titles of SSM article for New Jersey, where the governor similarly dropped his legal appeal, and for the purpose of consistency, I also support a move to 'Same-sex marriage in West Virginia'. Jono52795 (talk) 00:59, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support move for consistency. Prcc27 (talk) 05:10, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
