The official game name doesn't have a space between "Runner" and "2"
[edit]- runner2.com talks about the game as "Runner2" with varying amount of consistency
- On the developer website the game is called "Runner2", not "Runner 2".
- On Steam the game is called "Runner2", not "Runner 2."
I'll be bold and change the article on my own, but it also needs a move. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Badpazzword (talk • contribs) 20:19, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- @GeneralFailer: Wikipedia actually has some guidelines for dealing with absurd names like this: MOS:TM. While this ("BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien" for future reference) is the longest name that the company uses to describe the game, Wikipedia article generally avoid the ALL-CAPS route. After all, it's not like anyone is going to confuse this with another game if we drop the caps, the ellipses, the colon, the period, and the lack of spacing and just call it "Bit Trip Runner 2". That might be a little too simple, but we should at least drop the all caps. It looks like even the sources that use the full name, Metacritic, for example use more normal caps. Several sources, like Joystiq, just call it "Runner2". I'm sure some applicable guidelines could be found in Wikipedia:Article titles, as well. Just something to consider Grayfell (talk) 20:21, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- A couple sources I watched beforehand used BIT.TRIP but fair enough, I'll drop the caps. It looks like the ellipsis is generally used, including in the logo, so I think it can stay. I'll make sure the least sensible redirect I created will get deleted.GeneralFailer (talk) 20:56, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Good point, there are sources that use the caps. Unless they are typos, I wouldn't bother with deleting them. The game does have a ridiculously awkward name, so plausible variations can be helpful for people trying to track down info without any prior info about the game, or from a cut-and-paste or whatever. Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien → Runner 2 – Shorter title. Also Runner2 is just a stylization per MOS:TM. 2A02:C7D:564B:D300:74AF:4C41:BE8:E82A (talk) 19:16, 14 October 2016 (UTC)--Relisting. © Tbhotch™ (en-2.5). 04:48, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose It's the official subtitle of the game. Redirects handle the shortcut and more "proper" title. --MASEM (t) 19:50, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- The official name does not concern us much here. It seems quite obvious that the proposed new name is in common usage. Andrewa (talk) 14:29, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support but tempted to relist. Current title clearly fails wp:precision. Andrewa (talk) 14:29, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose Runner 2 (with space), but would be okay with Runner2 (no subtitle). A cursory glance at the sources reveals nearly all of them referring to it as "Runner2" no space, so it clearly is not just a stylization, but rather actually the name, and Wikipedia shouldn't invent a new name lest the "deadmaus" mistake be repeated. Additionally, MOS:TM says nothing about adding / removing spaces, for good reason; it's talking more about not including heart symbols or weird capitalizations. Randomly adding a space seems closer to the "do not try to 'correct' the punctuation or grammar of a trademark" clause of what not to do. SnowFire (talk) 22:30, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
