George Macfarlane

[edit]

I started an article yesterday on George G. Macfarlane based on his obituary in the Times. It mentioned his service with your organization, and I incorporated this. I thought I should bring this to your attention in case you wanted to link to former officers about whom there are articles. Also, I would be grateful if someone knowledgeable of your organization were to amplify the remarks. Michael P. Barnett (talk) 12:30, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page reversions

[edit]

I removed all edits dating back to February 2015 from user DeunanKnute due to vandalism. This user introduced copy errors, inaccuracies and an over prominent focus on one of the Academy's programmes, the Sainsbury Management Fellowships, merging this article with the main article and also introducing inaccuracies about this programme and how it is run. One edit claims that the Sainsbury Management Fellowships created the Academy's Proactive Membership Committee, which selects members for Fellowship of the Academy and is unrelated to the Sainsbury Management Fellowships. DeunanKnute links this to a page retrieved in 2013: http://www.raeng.org.uk/about-us/people-council-committees/council-and-committees/operating-committees/proactive-membership-committee when this was not accurate at the time of the edit.

Because I do not have rollback rights, Wikipedia would not allow for me to undo the changes made by this user, so I have also had to undo all changes following the February 2015 vandalism by DeunanKnute. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.224.124.130 (talk) 13:10, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I've advised the IP not to label edits as vandalism without clear evidence. We assume good faith here unless there is evidence to the contrary. Ping User:Deunanknute in case he/she wants to discuss these edits.  —SMALLJIM  14:00, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with reversion above

[edit]

The separate page List of Presidents of the Royal Academy of Engineering was created by me on 6 Sep 14. It was merged into the main article by Deunanknute for some reason on 15 February 2015. But the so-called reversion today by 87.224.124.130 has not restored the List of Presidents page nor that content. None of my contributions have been vandalism but I am not sufficiently experienced an editor to sort this out/restore the missing material/page. The way this has been left is unsatisfactory. Please will someone capable do what is necessary. Thanks GooglerW (talk) 21:50, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think I've restored it, though I have cannot comprehend what the above reversions etc mean. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 23:34, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The recent reversion seems to have messed up the table of fellows. There is a stray empty column. This confuses the sorting something chronic. --MK (talk) 12:26, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest the stray column might be used for images of the Presidents.GooglerW (talk) 19:58, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement Done on April 2017

[edit]

This article has been reorganized to better reflect proper flow of content - from History, to Presidents, to Fellows, Activities, etc. Inappropriate or irrelevant content under "See Also" have been removed. Also, Alec Broers is a "Lord" status in the UK. Corrected that error too. Happy reading.. Fellow007 (talk) 10:45, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Complete rewrite needed

[edit]

There is nothing useful here, save the lists of Fellows. The link farm to royalty is excessive. We don't use wikilinks unless they lead to helpful information- we do use them to link to helpful information. See British Computer Society for a more successful attempt.--ClemRutter (talk) 11:08, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
