Lakoff's work is very well known outside the US, and coming from a fairly robust non-US perspective, I don't see the slant. --Limegreen 08:36, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

George Lakoff?

[edit]

I'm assuming she is somehow connected to UC Berkeley linguistics professor George Lakoff. Married? Related? It'd be useful if this information could be added. — Emiellaiendiay 03:12, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is some suggestion that they were married a long time ago (e.g.,[1]), but I don't know of a reliable source. It's rather like tracking down the exact relationship between Simon Baron-Cohen (Cambridge Professor) and Sacha Baron-Cohen (a.k.a. Ali G, Borat).--Limegreen 04:01, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stumbled over “proposes that women's speech can be distinguished”

[edit]

Did Lakoff (empirically) find that women's speech is different from men's speech? If so these findings cannot be "proposed". 13:29, 1 March 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.94.171.54 (talk)
