Timed exclusive
[edit]The game is a timed exclusive, and it says so in the article. That means it won't always be exclusive to Microsoft, and will be released on other consoles. So shouldn't we put those consoles in? Charlr6 (talk) 20:00, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- Do you have a reliable source that says what those consoles will be? For all we know, the only other console that will get the game is the Wii U. Anything other than a source stating what systems it will launch for is pure speculation and not appropriate for an encyclopedia article. There is no rush, so we can update it when we learn what happens after the exclusivity deal ends. --McDoobAU93 20:43, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- On that note, can we also claim with certainty it's a timed exclusive? All we have is a quote about the deal having a 'duration'. That doesn't necessarily mean the game will ever be released on any other consoles, only that it MIGHT be. --Eydas (talk) 00:30, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- We can only repeat what reliable sources say. Exclusivity is not lasting; it's timed. Beyond that we should not speculate. — TPX 01:07, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Just because exclusivity expires by no means guarantees that other versions will ever be made. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag had free DLC that was timed-exclusive to the PlayStations, and when that duration ran out, it....still didn't come out for the Xboxes. Personally, I think a PC version is a cinch, but I'll be surprised if it goes PS4 and stupefied if it goes PS3. 173.160.130.14 (talk) 03:35, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Jonah in Rise Of The Tomb Raider?
[edit]Is there any real confirmation that Jonah Maiava will apear in the game? i've seen many trailers and i didn't spot Jonah in any of them, and there's no source for that (i checked the source section) so i'll delete that — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drumerwritter (talk • contribs) 18:19, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Why'd you delete when he is in the game? If you saw the part where Lara is scaling the mountain, the big guy with her is Jonah. Jimbob2014 (talk) 17:07, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Add Category:Video games featuring female protagonists 189.18.80.126 (talk) 22:47, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- Done, although it's probably not needed as Category:Tomb Raider series is already a subcat of Category:Video games featuring female protagonists. --The1337gamer (talk) 06:04, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Release date change:
PC: Now January 2016
PS4: Now Fall/Q3 2016
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. -- ferret (talk) 18:14, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
Sales
[edit]I see that the sales section already covers the competition the game "suffered" from Fallout 4, but according this this: [1] is says in the lead that regardless of competition with both Fallout 4 and Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void, Square Enix was happy with sales numbers so far. Though this was quite interesting. Scourge Splitter (talk) 07:29, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
Publisher
[edit]There's currently a footnote on the page that states that Microsoft was the publisher for the Xbox. Does that actually count? I thought being a game publisher meant that you published the title, not that you ported it to your platform. J♯m (talk | contribs) 20:54, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- If you're referring to the dispute currently happening, I believe both parties acknowledge that MS is a publisher, which is correct, its just disagreement on how to display that. Ferret is choosing the approach that I believe is supported by WP:VG. The other editor is just listing them out.
- If you're just asking a question unrelated to their dispute, then to clarify, yes, MS did publish it, though it is a bizarre situation considering the developers are owned by Square Enix, so it would seem like they would just publish. But no, MS did, as a means of having it exclusive to to their consoles for a limited period of time. They did not port it, they basically bought the rights to release the game first. Sergecross73 msg me 21:17, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- Serge has summed this up correctly. There have been multiple discussions on Template talk:Infobox video game that lead to the current format of displaying secondary or non-English region publishers in a foot note (with source). There are some that might argue even this is unimportant and should only be in the prose. -- ferret (talk) 21:59, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

- Why no mention of the macOS release in the lead (or the body for that matter)?
- "using rope arrows" - I've played the game so I know what you're talking about. A general reader might need an explanation of what a rope arrow is.
- "a large arsenal of weapons" - I'd simply this to just a 'variety' of weapons
- "receiving a skill point to spend at the base camp" - the base camp hasn't been introduced yet; it gets explained in the next paragraph. I'd either just drop this or explain/wikilink it here instead.
- "Elite allows them to bring already-acquired skills and weapons to the level" - from memory, doesn't this allow you to bring skills you required after the level was completed back to this level? Should this be clarified to the reader? Simply saying 'bring already-acquired' skills isn't very clear.
- You should explicitly state the collectible cards are digital. The article Trading card even has a sub-section on digital cards you can wikilink to instead of the current link
- "an ancient order of knights which is a paramilitary organization" - this is awkward wording, how about " an ancient order of knights turned paramilitary organization"?
- "Trinity ambushes them, stabs Jonah and takes the Atlas" - I'd clarify that it is Konstantin that stabs Jonah
- "heals him and revealing that he" - grammar
- "players can see Lara's character progression" - I feel like this should be changed to past tense
- Pretty sure 'The Edge' was supposed to link to The Edge (1997 film) (or possible The Edge (2010 film)) instead of the U2 musician :)
- Is 'Grindy' supposed to be piped to Grind?
- "including Russian realists" - can you give examples?
- The source does not mention any example though.
- "in which viewers could choose the weather" - I'm confused; I think this needs clarification.
- "Towell found the game so graphically appealing that he took screenshots of it." - I'm not convinced this is worth mentioning, I mean, who cares if he took screenshots, but up to you
- "which she called "interesting"" - I don't think this needs quotes, I'd just say 'which she found interesting'
Very impressive work. Looking forward to passing this once issues are addressed. Freikorp (talk) 13:11, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Freikorp: - Thanks for the review! I think I have addressed most of the issues. However, I am not sure how to clarify rope arrows though. Arrows tied with a rope? AdrianGamer (talk) 15:11, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah I guess there's no easy way to clarify the rope arrow thing. If this was an FA nomination I might suggest choosing a picture of her with one, but I'm happy to pass this now as is. Congrats. :) Freikorp (talk) 23:41, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X/S version
[edit]I posted this on the sequel's talk page but it's relevant here as well: I understand that the game has never received a native PS5 and XSX|S version, contrary to what is stated in the infobox. Is it correct to treat an upgrade patch as a full release? The source refers to the announcement of "Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy" which also hasn't been officially released on next-gen consoles. Liav22 (talk)
