Rasta's comments re heavy POV
[edit]Thety look suspiciously like partisan quotes by someone who hates La Volpe. Bona Fides 21:01, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- I dont't know very much about this issue, but if the qutes are real then they seem fair to me. Rjm656s 16:58, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
If you're saying that this article's POV because you get the impression I don't like Lavolpe, sorry guys I just don't see it. I've included the quote that the Mexican team had 'remarkable rise in fortunes' under Lavolpe's tenure, as well as the fact he was voted 'Manager of the tournament' by one newspaper, and praise from the widely respected former Celtic manager, Martin O'Neill. All of its additional relevant info, and doesn't show any negative slant towards the guy. He was a popular manager in the international media during the World Cup and the article now reflects it.
Lavolpe's arguments with authority - whether its the press, FIFA, or for that matter the Mexican FA by eating donuts under a parasol while watching his players sweat it out in training - are in many ways admirable traits. Show independence of spirit, a willingness to run risks and do the unconventional. All can be positive qualities.
So please let's take down this NPOV statement at the start?

Ok, just want to make sure it's not a vendetta; there's way too much childishness among football articles. Geez. One guy wrote how Team A stole its colors from team B. Lots of silly stuff... Football almost
Stats
[edit]I changed Lavolpe´s stats for Boca Juniors, as he didnt played the whole tournament, he started managing on the 9th match of apertura 2007, sept 15. http://www.rsssf.com/tablesa/arg08.html http://es.wiki.x.io/wiki/Torneo_Apertura_2007_(Argentina) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.146.89.40 (talk) 17:33, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- The stats were missing the Copa Sudamericana 2006 results and it is not the Apertura 2007, but the Apertura 2006.--Bocafan76 (talk) 19:55, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
World cup 2006/Contract with team
[edit]At the end of the World Cup 2006 section, the paragraph says: "Lavolpe's contract with the team was not renewed... despite... The Guardian named him 'Coach of the Tournament'"
However, this award of Coach of the Tournament, as seen in the reference given, was satirical, and, in any case, it is not by the entity of The Guardian, but by the author of the article. The satirical aspect and lack of prestige of the award does not give evidence on why his contract with the team should be removed. Therefore, I've removed this section of the article.
Furthermore, the "tactical flexibility" was not reference, so therefore removed. --Canned Soul (talk) 06:47, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
