This article is about the U.S. only?

[edit]

I think this article needs some further work to make it clear in all sections that the data given is only for the U.S. without trying to represent the global situation which is very different. I actually suggest the title of the article should be changed to reflect this. EMsmile (talk) 11:01, 29 May 2017 (UTC) In other words it is about the U.S only.[reply]

Article expansion with data from other countries

[edit]

Yes, this article is based on data from studies in the U.S. and Canada (North America). I will try to add some data from Australia and Europe as well as other regions (where available).DziegielewskiBA (talk) 13:33, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure how you plan to get this to work as there are so many different countries, all with different amounts of water used in households. Even within one country, the residential water use varies by income level (in the case of developing countries). Are you aware of the suite of articles called "water supply and sanitation in country x"? You can see them here: List of water supply and sanitation by country. So if you wanted this to become an accurate article for the whole world you would have a lot of work ahead of you. If you'll only include Australia and Europe then you continue the bias that Wikipedia has towards wealthy countries... One option could be to make this article general, without numbers, and putting the numbers for the U.S. into a section called "Examples". Or you change the title of the article to "Residential water use in the U.S." (this would be the easiest, no further work required). There could be other articles touching on this already, e.g. there is also the article on water use. Anyhow, welcome to Wikipedia and to the group of people wanting to improve the water and sanitation content! (I left a welcome note on your talk page, too). Agreed. After looking some more at the data this morning I see the size of the effort. I will change the title to "Residential water use in the U.S. and Canada." Need to refresh on how to do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DziegielewskiBA (talkcontribs) 21:10, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks. I didn't realise it was so easy to rename it - just a simple "move" operation. Well done for getting it done so easily. EMsmile (talk) 23:12, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Chart

[edit]

The chart only talks about the US. Can there be one for Canada too?103.246.36.76 (talk) 06:09, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
