Does anyone have information about older versions of the regions? I think it would be interesting to add this here, or in a separate article. I know there used to be an East Region, for example, including part of the current Southeast and Northeast. -- tmegapscm 2005-08-05

Hi Tmegapscm. The East region was formed by the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and the former Federal District which was the now-days city of Rio de Janeiro (when the capital of Brazil was transfered to Brasilia DF, this former Federal District turned into the state of Guanabara, which lasted only 15 years before being absorbed by the state of Rio de Janeiro). One day, in the 1950's, the state of Bahia was moved from the East region to the Northeast Region, while Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and the former FD joined with the state of São Paulo to create the Southeast region. São Paulo was formerly part of the South region.
Also, the Centre-West region has lost territory to the North region. Tocantins and Rondonia were formerly parts of Goias and Mato Grosso, respectivelly, before being emancipated. In spite of Goias and Mato Grosso are part of the Centre-West region, Tocantins and Rondonia were added to the North region when they were created -instead of the Centre-West.

Map

[edit]

Could someone help me editing the first map, making it bigger? There is so much information (names of regions) and it is saturated, polluted. Thank you. :) Rosbife (talk) 21:19, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Do you need help with editing or with identifying the regions? I can help with the latter. Saturnalia0 (talk) 21:23, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
