Range in Mexico, etc

[edit]

With the Northern Cardinal, the Pyrrhuloxia has virtually the identical Range maps for:

Arizona
New Mexico
Baja California Sur
Southwestern Texas

The exceptions are that, the Northern Cardinal is mostly in:

Texas proper.
Eastern, and Central Mexico

Both of these birds, are found in the Sky islands of SE Arizona, SW New Mexico, and northern Sonora, also called the Madrean sky islands. Michael inHOT,YumaAZ, --Mmcannis 16:09, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect?

[edit]

"remove US centric and incorrect, replace with cardinal family)"

I fail to see why this article was "US centric." It includes Mexico in the range. Please explain.

I believe the article was correct. All three birds are members of the same genus (Cardinalis) and well as the same family (Cardinalidae).

  • Pyrhuloxia - Cardinalis sinuatus
  • Northern Cardinal - Cardinalis cardinalis
  • Vermilion Cardinal - Cardinalis phoeniceus

Therefore, I reversed the edit. Jeff dean 13:50, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

Please add the IPA pronunciation for this bird's name. Thank you. Charvex (talk) 08:49, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
