The word 'Palmyra' is linked to the historical place, which can't be right - you can't make a fan out of a place. 83.104.35.87 (talk) 05:20, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

The word is Punkha, not Punkah
[edit]The word 'Pankha' originated from 'Pankh', the wings of a bird, which produce a draft when flapped. Pankahwalah is actually islamisation of an Indian word, probably by the Europeans, mainly the British, who would regularly jumble up pronunciation of the words of the subcontinent.
