Quotes need sources
[edit]The article also needs more material on his life. --Parkwells (talk) 22:21, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- You are correct. I have removed the following, which is completely unsourced:-
- "The best thing that ever happened to the piano in New Orleans." James Booker[citation needed]
- "Professor Longhair put 'funk' into music; he's the father of the stuff." Dr. John[citation needed])
- "He's the Satchel Paige of the piano." Albert Goldman[citation needed]
- "He's the Bach of rock." Allen Toussaint[citation needed]
- "He's a seminal force, a guru, an original creator of the New Orleans piano style ... the teacher of great players like Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint, Mac Rebbenack, James Booker, and Huey Smith. All acknowledge him as The Great Master." Jerry Wexler[citation needed]
- I have added the {Work in progress} tag for the time being, as I try to introduce a few references, and remove the rest of the adulatory froth.
- My work is now finished, at least for the time being. I hope it looks more encyclopedic now, although more material on his life, as mentioned above, would be nice (assuming it is referenced!)
Blog
[edit]I've removed the unsourced blog, somehow missed before. Rothorpe (talk) 01:12, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Signature song
[edit]Says here "Mardi Gras in New Orleans" is his signature song, but at Tipitina it says that's his signature song. And provides a source to back it up. Kendall-K1 (talk) 18:24, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
Score error
[edit]Why are there nine quavers in bar 4, and eight elsewhere? 121.44.19.209 (talk) 19:32, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
- You mean in "Mardi Gras in New Orleans"? I count 10 (five beats), but you're right, it looks fishy. This question has been asked before at File talk:Mardi gras in new orleans.tif but no answer was forthcoming. Kendall-K1 (talk) 22:34, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
"Fess"
[edit]The article launches into the nickname "Fess" presumably for 'Professor' but without any explanation or history of that nickname. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.24.221.67 (talk) 10:18, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
