Infoboxes

[edit]

Hello @Srnec, your edit here, you removed the infobox I added. So my question is, what gets an infobox vs. what doesn't get one? Medievalist Frenchie (talk) 15:01, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is decided on an article-by-article basis. You seem new here, so you maybe do not know that infoboxes have been controversial. There are those who think every article ought to have one and those who think that it is impossible to have proper infoboxes for every type of article. There is no community consensus on infoboxes, although there are areas where they are the norm and areas where they are not. In this case, the article is short and the topic somewhat complicated. I don't see much value added with an infobox. Srnec (talk) 15:27, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So, in that case I'll stop adding infoboxes and instead keep them to larger pages with multiple sections, perhaps that would be the best way forward? It seems pointless to add them to smaller articles, I agree there, but also adding the coat of arms, the years, and leaders and important information seems useful in most cases.
