Lucuma or Lúcuma?

[edit]

should the article name be corrected? The correct spanish spelling is with the accent; should it be kept? --Orpheo 07:57, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct - I moved the article - AKeen 05:29, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It's actually neither. The accepted English name for Pouteria lucuma is Lucmo. The page needs to be moved in order to reflect the correct nomenclature. Please refer to Purdue University's New Crop Resource Online Program; there is an article on the Lucmo[2] by Julia F. Morton (Morton, J. 1987. "Lucmo." p. 405–406. Fruits of warm climates. Julia F. Morton, Miami, FL, ISBN: 0-9610184-1-0). --Rcgy 08:12, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is the lucuma really known as a 'lucmo'? I have never heard of this name. A Google search turns up 50 times more hits for Lucuma. It is Wikipedia policy to use the original name if it is more commonly used by English speakers, which 'lucuma' certainly appears to be. Found at http://www.lucuma.com/lucumafruit.asp article needs a clear picture of how the exotic lucuma fruit looks like --Acaliangel91 21:54, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just returned from Peru and enjoyed Lucuma ice cream. However I can confirm that a very wide range of flavors are available, at least in Lima. Certainly there is no such limitation in Peru as is mentioned in the article (chocolate, strawberry & vanilla). They have no shortage of various flavors of gelato at specialty shops and restaurants. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.10.237.82 (talk) 01:51, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The fruit in the picture is definitely not Lucuma. Lucuma is round (see http://naturalismfoods.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Lucuma-1-320x320.jpg). --cesarc 22:40, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
