The info about this particular baby being born at this hospital does not seem to have been confirmed. Tacyarg (talk) 00:04, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
- Agreed that it has not been confirmed by the Sussexes. A lot of papers, rightly or wrongly, are reporting on it. Dormskirk (talk) 08:32, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Is there undue weight to certain deaths that took place at Portland Hospital?
[edit]I feel coverage of deaths is too long, if we are to compare it with the total body of the article. Cinadon36 07:33, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
Should there be a different list for royalties and others at Notable births section?
[edit]I dont get the reasoning. The whole list looks like original research anyway...Cinadon36 07:37, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
Births
[edit]An editor has marked the births section as "undue". I am opening a disussion here so we can decide which births should be removed and which should be retained but it seems to me to be inappopriate to remove the whole list. Comments welcome. Dormskirk (talk) 17:03, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- I think WP:PROPORTION applies here, and that the section is out of proportion to how the hospital is mentioned in RS. Something like a fifth of the article is a bullet list with celebrities that were born in the hospital, and the sources often mention the hospital only in passing. Thus the list doesn't really add much to the understanding of the topic. I think that the reader would be better informer if the list was turned into a regular section using the Evening Standard article as a source. That section could explicitly mention that the hospital is popular among celebrities, with av few examples of modern and historical births in the hospital. As it is, the section borders on WP:FANCRUFT.
- There are similar sections in other articles about hospitals, så perhaps this is a discussion for Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hospitals. Sjö (talk) 08:16, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough. How would you feel about retaining the royalty list and deleting everyone else? Dormskirk (talk) 08:30, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Like I wrote, the relevant RS in this case is the Evening Standard article and the aspect that it is a popular hospital for the well-off. Just making the list shorter while excluding births that actually have been given some coverage in RS beyond a short official statement would not be an improvement. Sjö (talk) 08:36, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- OK. How about a simple sentence as follows: "The hospital is a popular choice for the births of members of the royal family and of celebrities: examples include Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and the children of David and Victoria Beckham." Dormskirk (talk) 08:47, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- That sounds fair, and with such a short sentence it does not have to be a separate section. I think that I'll start at discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hospitals anyway.Sjö (talk) 09:00, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Great. Subject to no further comments, one of us should insert this. Thanks. Dormskirk (talk) 09:03, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
