[edit]One of the few "mid" elementary schools. Well referenced. Some pictures from the school would balance this page towards the current education Victuallers 14:12, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Discrepancy
[edit]There's a discrepancy between the grade shown in the infobox and the one shown in the school's entry in the section Fairfax County Public Schools#Elementary schools. Our article says K-5, while the public schools article says K-6. I'd love to correct it myself, but I'm not sure of the U.S. grade numbering system so I'm hesitant to make the change. - I believe it's K-6; I believe that in the Commonwealth of Virginia, elementary schools are always K-6 and middle (Intermediate) schools are always 7 and 8. ANSWER: THIS SCHOOL IS PRE-K THROUGH 6Cornince 22:28, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- The K-6 elementary school thing is specific to Fairfax County and a few others; most counties in VA have elementary school through grade 5, then middle school from 6-8. For example, Nottingham Elementary School (Arlington County, Virginia) in Arlington. Jamesr66a (talk) 23:36, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Seung-hui Cho (from 1995-1997?)
[edit]Judging from his age and birthday (and assuming the school is K-6), I would think that Seung-hui would have graduated from elementary school in 1996 (and earlier if this school is K-5). What source said he attended until 1997? Cornince 04:28, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK, correct me if the article is wrong. This is based primarily on the last reference, from Joon Ai Ilbo. What's explicitly stated therein is as follows:
- Kim Gyeong-won was "friends for three years" with Cho.
- The "two met in the fifth grade at Poplar Tree Elementary School".
- "Kim said he arrived in the United States with his parents in 1995. His family moved to Atlanta when he entered middle school 10 years ago".
I took three years starting from 1995 inclusive to mean Cho graduated in 1997. It's not directly stated in the article, though. —Resurgent insurgent 2007-04-25 13:13Z
Unlucky School
[edit]Either this article is written pretty accurately and nothing positive goes on at this school, or the article focuses on all the negatives. This is a pretty morose look at the school. Can someone write some positives into the history of the school, because this sounds like a pretty depressing place. For now I'm going to tag it with a {{Unbalanced}} tag.
